"We just popped in for a quick pint, and we found a nice welcome from the lady behind the bar. We wanted to sit and look at the incredible view down the Tamar and we were shown to a nice table that had exactly that. Just a drive by visit this time, but we will definitely be back again."
"After using this beautiful pub for almost a decade where we've had some lovely food. Today, for a special family get together, we went for the Sunday Roast. Regrettably our experience was extremely disappointing. The menu looked very exciting but the eating experience did not meet expectations. The prawn cocktail was bland, uninspiring with the small prawns lying in water on a hot plate. The turkey roast was sitting cold on a cold plate served with bullet hard potatoes and uncooked vegetables. The gravy, always the highlight to a roast ..... oh dear coloured water is polite. Bland, tepid food which was so disappointing. Very embarrassing when we had said the food here is amazing! Maybe an off day chef, but an expensive one for us!!!"
"Lovely little friendly pub. The staff were very accommodating. There is a good selection of ales and spirits. We came for Sunday roast and most had 3 courses. the whitebait starter was lovely and at least every meat roast was had by one of our party and there were clean plates all round (despite the generous portion sizes!!). The vegetable wellington also went down very well and was praised by the vegetarian of the group! The sticky toffee pudding was amazing too and would highly recommend the pub to anyone looking to go for a Sunday roast. I thought the value for money against the food was worth it. They also allowed us to bring the dog in which was a big bonus !!"
"We stopped on our way back to Chapel Pod where we stayed for the week end. Lovely place to stop for a drink. Unfortunately we couldn’t have diner as they were fully booked. Menu does look good though! We stopped to get keep warm by a fire but unfortunately they were not blazing hot."
"Came yesterday for the first time just on the off chance we could get a table, which we was able to. Staff were lovely and very accommodating and the pub itself is beautiful but we was very disappointed with the Sunday lunch. The cauliflower cheese was stone cold, potatoes were rock solid, pork was chewy and dry and the gravy was watery and didn’t taste of anything. Not sure if it was just a one off yesterday as all other reviews seem to be good for the food but it’s put us off coming back to try again."
