"Our first stay at The Bedford Hotel, and we were both very impressed. The rooms are beautifully decorated, quiet, clean and comfortable. We stayed here to go to Tavistock Wharf for the evening, and location wise, it was perfect. Every member of staff we encountered was extremely polite and helpful, some of the best I've encountered in a hotel. Would highly recommend this hotel, and hope we get to stay again soon!!!"
"We stayed for an evening to celebrate my birthday. The reception kindly booked a taxi for us to go to the Horn of Plenty, but this did not arrive and were not answering their phone (Angel Taxi) and the receptionist kindly got hold of another company (Grab a Cab). They arrived very quickly, which was great, otherwise we would have been late for our dinner. Room was very clean. The bathroom could do with a bit of updating, as dated and the jacuzzi bath very old. The bar was quiet when we returned and we had a quick drink and chat to the bar staff who was very nice. Breakfast was delicious. I had eggs benedict with salmon and my husband had the full breakfast. Very easy check out. Thank you for looking after us."
"I think the chef must enjoy putting garlic in everything! Nearly always end up having Fish & Chips even though the fish is half the size of most establishments & twice the price.Find garlic even in sausage & mash (why). My friend had the salmon but said even that was too spicy!Be careful nearly everything has garlic in."
"Nice friendly and efficiently run hotel . It has a certain charm and the rooms are in good order . We have stayed many times now and you can bring your dog too . Its ideally situated within the historic town of tavistock and its market and everything is within walking distance. Enjoyed the Dickensian evening there at the beginning of December and would recommend it completely."
"I tagged along to my wife and mother in-laws afternoon tea, What a disappointment and expensive. When i booked and before arrival being Diabetic i asked if I could have sandwiches to replace the cakes. I was assured this was not a problem. When the afternoon tea came out I reminded the waitress i was diabetic and asked for additional sandwiches. No one responded so i asked another waitress and who called the manageress over. I was told i had 3 finger sandwiches and a scone. Very embarrassing as the room was full of guests and i really felt i was causing a scene. So i said no more. I was charged £19.50 what a rip off. I looked on their menu and I could have had tea and a scone for £7.50. That worked out to £12.50 for 3 finger sandwiches. (Extortionate) In fairness both my wife and Mother in-law enjoyed theirs and said the cakes were delicious."
