For those who appreciate sustainable practices, join us at the Trash to Treasure Fair on Saturday 2 September 2023 from 9am to 1pm. Held at the Buy Back Shop in Portsmith, this event showcases the creativity and resourcefulness of our community in turning discarded items into valuable treasures.

While we regretfully inform you that the Cairns Festival Grand Parade will not be rescheduled this year, we are actively working towards creating more memorable experiences for the community. In fact, we are currently considering naming the pavilion in Norman Park, Gordonvale, in honor of the late Stan Marsh, a significant figure in our community.

At Cairns Regional Council, we prioritize the cleanliness and beauty of our city. During the launch of Clean Up Cairns today, we collected an impressive 10,350 cigarette butts from three city streets. This initiative highlights our commitment to maintaining a pristine environment for everyone to enjoy.

We would also like to acknowledge and pay our respects to the Traditional Custodians of our region, the Djabugay, Yirrganydji, Buluwai, Gimuy Walubara Yidinji, Mandingalbay Yidinji, Gunggandji, Dulabed and Malanbara Yidinji, Bundabarra and Wadjanbarra Yidinji, Wanyurr Majay, Mamu, and NgadjonJii peoples.
