One of the highlights at Woodward Park Reserve is our Dog Adoption Day, taking place on Saturday 2 September at the Aeroglen Dog Park. Discover the joy of finding a new furry friend and experience the heartwarming process of giving a shelter dog a loving home.

Another exciting event not to be missed is the Trash to Treasure Fair, happening on the same day, Saturday 2 September 2023, from 9am to 1pm at the Buy Back Shop in Portsmith. Explore this unique fair and uncover hidden gems as you peruse through a variety of items that have been repurposed and given a new lease on life.

While the Cairns Festival Grand Parade will not be rescheduled this year, there are still plenty of enchanting activities to enjoy at Woodward Park Reserve. In recognition of the late Stan Marsh, the council is considering naming the pavilion in Norman Park, Gordonvale, as a tribute to his legacy.

At Woodward Park Reserve, we also prioritize environmental stewardship. Recently, at the launch of Clean Up Cairns, an impressive 10,350 cigarette butts were collected from three city streets. This initiative highlights our commitment to maintaining the beauty and cleanliness of our region.

As we celebrate the diverse heritage of our region, Cairns Regional Council acknowledges and pays our respects to the Traditional Custodians of the land, including the Djabugay, Yirrganydji, Buluwai, Gimuy Walubara Yidinji, Mandingalbay Yidinji, Gunggandji, Dulabed and Malanbara Yidinji, Bundabarra and Wadjanbarra Yidinji, Wanyurr Majay, Mamu, and NgadjonJii peoples. We extend this respect to all elders, past, present, and future, as well as to other First Peoples within our region.
