"Warning: On 16/3/2023 when I picked up a rental vehicle, Avis made a preauthorisation on my credit card for $598.62. I returned the car on 20/3/2023 and was charged $398.62. However, the $598.62 is still pending in my account - it is now 30/3/2023. That is money I can’t access. So, if you don’t have great cashflow, you need to be very wary of their preauthorisation process. Incidentally, I called Avis on Tuesday (28/3/2023) & asked them to send an email to my bank as advised by my bank (after a 1 hour wait on hold). The Avis rep said no, they had already notified my bank when the car was returned & if I would just wait until the end of the week the money would be returned. Now it is the end of the week & the money remains unavailable to me. Now Avis want me to contact them because of this review. What a saga."
