About the Business
Welcome to Sri Venkateswara Temple (SVT Sydney), a renowned Hindu temple and place of worship located at Helensburgh, Temple Road, 1 in Sydney, Australia. This institution is not only a point of interest for tourists but also a significant establishment for the Hindu community in the area.
At SVT Sydney, we invite you to immerse yourself in the spiritual ambiance of our temple. Lord Ganesha, always dressed in white, symbolizes purity and is omnipresent with a grey complexion, radiating spiritual splendor. Meditate on this divine deity who can remove all obstacles in your life, whether they are material or spiritual.
One of the most celebrated events at SVT Sydney is the Ganesh Visarjan, a day-long festival filled with rituals, a procession of deities around the temple premises, cultural activities, entertainment, and the visarjan (immersion) of a clay Ganesha idol in the ocean at Stanwell Park beach.
During this festival, we have a schedule of events that include Kalasa Pooja, Ganapathy Moola Mantra Trisathi Homam, Visesha Abhishekam, Alankaram, Sodashobachara Deeparadhanai, and a procession to the beach for visarjan. Additionally, we offer the opportunity to purchase sarees that have adorned the deities, allowing devotees to be blessed with these sacred garments.
To enhance your experience at SVT Sydney, we have arranged a variety of cultural programs, including traditional dance performances and classical singing, starting at 10:00 am. These performances are sure to captivate and resonate with connoisseurs of this art form.
If you're looking to satisfy your taste buds, we have a range of food stalls serving culinary delights of different varieties. Indulge in the flavors and aromas of the diverse cuisines available at our temple.
We also provide an option for devotees who wish to bring their own worshipped idol. However, please note that it is your responsibility to take the idol to the ocean for immersion. We expect these idols to be made of pure clay, without any synthetic or plastic materials. Painted or colored clay idols are not accepted. If you prefer, you can hand in your idol at the ticket counter for a fee of $15, ensuring they are not scattered.
As Swami Vivekananda once stated when asked about the benefits of prayer, "I gained NOTHING. In fact, I LOST Anger, Depression, Jealousy, Irritation & Insecurity." Prayer at SVT Sydney offers a transformative experience that can help you find inner peace and let go of negative emotions.
We are open from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm without a break on public holidays, festival days, Saturdays, and Sundays. On weekdays, our timings are from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. On Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays, we are open from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

"These three stars for temple and god! This is One of the most beautiful temples in New South Wales is located here. The serene atmosphere and overall perfection make it a must-visit destination. However, it's important to note that the queues at the cafeteria can be quite long, with wait times often exceeding 30 minutes to an hour or even longer. To avoid this inconvenience, it's advisable to bring your own food and water. Unfortunately, the quality of the food provided at the cafeteria is below average, and the coffee leaves much to be desired. The cafeteria itself can be seen as a drawback, but if you visit the temple solely for its spiritual significance and divine presence, you will have a fulfilling experience. I had hoped that they would offer prasadam, as is customary in most temples. However, I'm uncertain about their practices in this regard. Nevertheless, the cafeteria's food diminishes the overall charm of the visit, making it a tiring and disappointing journey."
"Great Hindu temple to Visit, you'll feel a peace, know more of Hinduism. Just be aware of the bus timetable if you are taking public transportation"
"Lord Sri Venkateshvara Temple (SVT) is in Helensburgh town of New South Wales which is just 50 to 60 km drive from Sydney. The traditional Indian style architecture creates a truly unique ,authentic, and Indian style landscape. We visited this place at the weekend. There were a lot of devotees, but still, the temple staff was able to manage crowds properly. With Shiva as main God, there are God like ganpati, 9 ghare, devi, and many more. The Temple is a beautiful design that you feel it from inside of heart. People came here with proper traditional clothes which feel you more Indian touch. In the primises we are able to experience traditional dhol music practice which they are planning for upcoming festival. Temple staff/pujari offer daily religious services and special services on individual booking. SVT Visit is a turely spiritual journey that can not be missed."
"Very nice and beautifully maintained temple away from the hurly-burly of city life @ Helensberg, near Wollongong NSW. The temple architecture and worship is purely Tamilian. Aesthetically designed and well built. There is a cafeteria in the compound and you will get really nice south indian delicacies there at a very reasonable rate. Lot of indian visit the temple on a daily basis especially during weekends. You have toilet facilities as well. Shiva is the main deity in the temple and you have a lot other small deities like Ganesha, Devi, Shanmugha etc as well. It's a good place to visit."
