Conder Early Childhood Service 55 Beaumaris Street, Conder, Australian Capital Territory 2906
About the Business
Welcome to Conder Early Childhood Service, a nurturing establishment located in the heart of the Lanyon community in Australia. Situated at 55 Beaumaris Street, Conder is a 47-place center that has been serving the Lanyon Valley since 1994, and we pride ourselves on our deep connection to the local community. Our dedicated team provides high-quality education and care for children aged six weeks to five years.
We have established a strong relationship with nearby Charles Conder Primary School, offering before and after school care arrangements for children attending the pre-school. Additionally, we facilitate a smooth transition to school by participating in regular visits to the school throughout the year. By fostering these connections, we ensure that children feel supported and prepared for their educational journey.
At Conder, we believe in creating warm and nurturing experiences for the children in our care. Our team values collaborative partnerships with families and the wider community, ensuring that every child receives the attention and support they need to thrive. By utilizing our YWCA Canberra children's services programs, you also contribute to the support of various community activities, such as housing programs, community development, youth engagement, and education to prevent domestic and family violence.
Our diverse team at Conder is committed to providing quality education and care. Our educators come from a range of backgrounds, allowing us to role-model and mentor each other effectively. Experienced educators work alongside trainees to offer guidance and support, creating a nurturing environment for both staff and children.
Juliana, one of our educators, hails from Brazil and has been working in the early childhood education and care sector since 2007. She moved to Australia in 2014 and has resided in Canberra since 2016. With a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and her ongoing pursuit of a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education, Juliana brings a wealth of knowledge and a personal philosophy focused on supporting children's holistic development and empowering them to reach their full potential. Juliana aims to provide a nurturing and supportive environment for children while fostering strong partnerships with families.
Conder offers a rich educational program that encourages indoor and outdoor play in a natural, home-like environment. We support sibling and family connections through mixed-age play, allowing children to interact and learn from those outside their age group. Our learning environments are designed to be welcoming and inviting, ensuring that every child feels comfortable, safe, and secure to explore, discover, and make choices.
We believe that children are capable and competent learners who construct their understanding of the world through play. Our resources reflect children's interests and strengths, embracing diversity and inclusivity. We also recognize the environment as the "third teacher," providing a space that supports each child's physical, social, emotional, language, and cognitive needs.
At Conder, we prioritize meaningful relationships with children and their families, promoting a strong sense of belonging. Our continuity of long-term educators and small group sizes in our educational spaces facilitate these relationships. We believe that effective partnerships with families enhance our practice, as families are the first educators of their children. We engage in daily conversations with families to share information about their children's day and participation in our educational program.
To further foster a sense of community, we offer families various opportunities to engage with our center. We hold a "Meet and greet" event at the beginning of each year, allowing families to become familiar with our educators. Throughout the year, we host picnics and afternoon teas for families, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all.
With around 3000 children cared for each week through our children's services, YWCA Canberra is dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of families and children. By choosing Conder Early Childhood Service, you are not only providing your child with quality education and care but also supporting the wider community.

"We love this centre. The educator takes extremely good care to our baby girl. We have tried other childcare centres the rest are more commercial but this one you can feel the love and passion. My husband said he will only trust this centre. Highly recommended."
"We are delighted with this service. The staff are brilliant and genuinely care about the children and the family as a whole. Activites are educational as well as great for physical kids. We love the small size of the centre - it's more personal and family-friendly. The accounts team - they are friendly and helpful too."
"Our son loves attending YWCA Conder, it his home away from home. The educators are caring, compassionate and are just lovely people. The outdoor area is great for exploring and riding bikes. We will be sad to leave this service next year when our little one goes to preschool, he will really miss it. Would highly recommend YWCA Conder to anyone!"
"Every mother's fear is if your child will fit in and settle well. The staff at this service are supportive and informative and their dedication to the kids is exceptional. If your kids like outdoors like mine they will definitely love this centre."
"My children have been attending this centre for over a year now. I highly recommend this centre to anyone who will listen. Things I love about YWCA's Conder Child Care Centre are: diverse, caring and kind educators; a focus on the child's learning and enjoyment (I love that my kids come home happy and messy); and the 'family' atmosphere of the centre (siblings visit one another and play together in the joint playground). I have had children in all the rooms (Baby, Toddler, Pre-School) and they are all wonderful. If your child attends pre-school at Charles Conder Primary they are able to walk your child over on the half day (brilliant!). To top it off it is fantastic value for money. I feel very blessed to drop my children off each morning and know that they are in safe hands, and will have a great day."
