Yuma Dhawura nguna ngurumbangu gunanggu Ngunnawal. Nginggada dindi dhawura Ngunnawalbun yindjumaralidjinyin. Mura bidji mulanggaridjindjula. (Translation: This country is Ngunnawal (ancestral/spiritual) homeland. We all always respect elders, male and female, as well as Ngunnawal country itself. They always keep the pathways of their ancestors alive. They walk together as one.)
At Mount Painter Nature Reserve, we proudly acknowledge the Ngunnawal people as Canberra's first inhabitants and Traditional Custodians. We deeply respect the special relationship and profound connection that Ngunnawal people have with this Country.
Before the displacement of the Ngunnawal people from their land, they thrived and their life and culture were intricately intertwined with this land in a way that only they truly understand. The impact of their segregation from Culture and Country has had long-lasting and profound effects on their health, well-being, cultural practices, families, and the continuation of their law/lore.
We honor and recognize the historic interruption experienced by the Ngunnawal people of Canberra and their surrounding regions. We acknowledge their significant contribution to caring for Country and their enduring connection to these lands and waters, spanning both tangible and intangible aspects of cultural, social, environmental, spiritual, and economic significance.
Furthermore, we acknowledge the Ngunnawal people as the traditional custodians of the ACT and extend our recognition to any other people or families with connections to the lands of the ACT and region. We deeply respect and value their continuing culture and the invaluable contribution they make to the life of this city and region.
Join us at Mount Painter Nature Reserve for an unforgettable experience where you can connect with nature, appreciate the rich cultural heritage of the Ngunnawal people, and create lasting memories amidst the beauty of Australia's natural wonders.

"Very nice stretch of walk, good for beginners."
"Easy climb but a beautiful view of Gungahlin and black mountain."
"Top walk, top views, several ways to go up. Most come up the sealed path, access on the side of the water tank behind Cook. There is short sharp climb on the side facing Black Mountain. More adventurous is access next to the Community Garden on Bindubi."
