About the Business
Welcome to Mura Lanyon Youth and Community Centre (MLYCC), located in Conder on Sidney Nolan Street. Mura, which is pronounced Muh-ra, is a traditional Ngunnawal word that means 'pathway'. As a part of the local community, MLYCC plays a crucial role in providing pathways for community members to engage in social, cultural, recreational, and educational activities.
Funded through the ACT Government Community Services Directorate under the Community Development Program, MLYCC aims to build stronger communities by promoting participation and connection. We strive to ensure that individuals and communities have the support they need to thrive and make a positive start. As a drug-free, alcohol-free, and violence-free zone, MLYCC provides a safe and welcoming environment for all.
Our programs and services cater to the needs of people living, working, or playing in the Tuggeranong region. Whether you're looking for youth programs, community events, or educational workshops, MLYCC has something for everyone. Additionally, we offer spaces for hire, allowing community members and groups to host regular or one-off events.
One of our notable services is the Lanyon Food Hub, which provides emergency relief to families facing significant financial distress. We focus on supporting individuals from the Tuggeranong region of the ACT. Eligible community members can access the Food Hub through a membership or emergency assistance access. Open on Thursdays from 9am to 2pm, the Food Hub offers a pantry-style system with a variety of non-perishable, fresh produce, refrigerated, and frozen items.
To maintain the integrity of our services, we kindly ask all members to adhere to our guidelines. Failure to comply may result in being asked to leave the service. The Lanyon Food Hub is funded through a Financial Wellbeing and Capability Grant from the Federal Government Department of Social Services.
Looking for a venue to host your next event? The Coombs Community Centre and Cottage are fully accessible venues available for hire. With a range of spaces and convenient facilities, our venues are perfect for various occasions. From meetings and workshops to celebrations and gatherings, we have you covered. Our hire booklet provides detailed information, including facility lists, locations, rates, and photos.
MLYCC also offers multiple rooms for hire to community members, organizations, and businesses. Whether you need a space for meetings, classes, or workshops, we have the perfect solution to meet your needs.
Furthermore, MLYCC is proud to have custodianship of the Snow Foundation Community Bus. This 12-seater Volkswagen bus is available for hire by community groups, schools, and organizations from Canberra and surrounding areas. Priority is given to Tuggeranong-based groups. While there is no fee to hire the Community Bus, a refundable $500 deposit is required for all bookings. This deposit will be returned when the bus and keys are returned in the same condition as per the Vehicle Inspection Report.
At MLYCC, we value your feedback. If you have any suggestions or comments regarding our services, please fill out our feedback form. We appreciate your input as we continually strive to improve and better serve our community.

"We recently held our daughter's 1st birthday party at this community centre and it was fantastic. The process of hiring the hall, and picking up the keys was really straight forward and the hall itself had everything we needed for the day. We hired some play equipment from PlushPlay which fit perfectly in the room and made it such a special day for our family. A perfect party venue for winter or summer as the outdoor courtyard is plenty big enough for kids to run around if the weather is nice and indoors is big enough for cold/rainy days."
"A welcoming place to have your needs met."
"We had our little ladies 2nd birthday party here. It was such a great location to have a birthday party. Was easy to speak to the staff prior to the day and were able to go down days prior to the event for the staff to show us around the rooms. Would book in more parties for our children in the coming years."
"Mura Lanyon Youth and Community Centre (MLYCC) is an exceptional venue. I hired the venue for my daughter's 4th birthday and we had access to a kitchen and large space. We hired an entertainment performer from a children's party service (Elsa) and there was enough space for the children's entertainment and balloon art. The venue has adequate heating and was large enough for 17 children and the associated adults. I would have no hesitation in hiring the facility again or recommending it to friends and family. 10/10"
"I love this space. The people who work here are doing AMAZING work and providing a great service to the community. I've only (thus far) seen the centre after hours as a functions space but it is an amazing space."
