In November 2022, the International Rose Garden was honored with a Garden of Global Excellence award, solidifying its reputation as a beloved destination for rose lovers from around the world. To experience the garden at its peak, visit in October-November when the first flush of the season is in full bloom. However, even during the summer months, the garden continues to offer a breathtaking experience.

The International Rose Garden has received significant support and advice from Australian rose experts since its inception. Various rose nurseries have generously donated thousands of rose plants, ensuring that the garden remains a haven for rose enthusiasts. Additionally, the garden benefits from high-quality mulch and fertilizers provided by Neutrog, guaranteeing that the roses receive the necessary nutrients to thrive.
Thanks to the generosity of donors to the Adelaide Botanic Gardens Foundation, the garden has recently undergone improvements. New rose varieties, border edging, plant identification labels, interpretive signage, irrigation systems, and a fertigator have been installed, enhancing the overall experience for visitors.

"A great rose garden. There are a wide variety of roses here. Even in early winter, many beautiful blooming roses can still be seen."
"Such an amazing garden. Well kept. Biggest variety of roses i have ever seen. Will be back weekly. Pure beauty"
"Everyone should come here to see the beautiful flowers and gardens! 4 hours of walk + picnic + photography were not enough for all of us. Too much to see in the whole Adelaide botanic garden."
"Even in the winter when we were here, it’s still a lovely place! Isolated roses were still in bloom. There are a number of benches where you can stop and (inserts dad joke here) smell the roses!!! You can definitely imagine how stunning this place would be in spring! Well worth checking out."
"The rose garden has a ton of different rose types and colours on display. Since I went in early spring, there weren’t many roses that were blooming and the archway didn’t have any roses on it like it usually does. There is a massive open grass area for people to have picnics or for events to be set up. The summer months are much better to see the rose garden in, as there are substantially more roses that are blooming."
