Founded by Prof Nic Crampton, a distinguished specialist oncoplastic surgeon, our clinic was established to meet the growing demand for melanoma and skin cancer treatment in South East Queensland. We are dedicated to providing exceptional care to our patients and collaborating closely with their general practitioners.

Melanoma, although less common than other types of skin cancers, poses the greatest threat if not detected early. It is a tumor that originates in the melanocytes, the cells responsible for producing melanin, which gives color to the skin and protects it from harmful UV rays. The Gold Coast Melanoma Clinic is committed to raising awareness about the importance of early detection and providing comprehensive treatment options.

In our pursuit of excellence, we have partnered with the Australia New Zealand Melanoma Trials Group (ANZMTG) to conduct a phase III, multi-center randomized control trial. This trial focuses on investigating the effectiveness of 1cm versus 2cm Wide Excision Margins for primary cutaneous melanoma. By participating in groundbreaking research, we aim to continually improve our understanding and treatment of melanoma.

Furthermore, we are proud to announce our collaboration with Griffith University in the establishment of the Institute for Glycomics Melanoma Cell Bank. Dr. Nic Crampton serves as the Principal Investigator for this project, which aims to create a biospecimen bank comprising of cell lines derived from ex vivo melanoma surgical specimens, along with matching blood donations. These invaluable resources will be stored for melanoma research, paving the way for advancements in the field.
