At the helm of our clinic is Prof Nic Crampton, a renowned specialist oncoplastic surgeon. With a deep understanding of the growing demand for melanoma and skin cancer treatment in South East Queensland, Prof Crampton established this clinic to cater to the needs of patients and their general practitioners.

Melanoma, although the least common of skin cancers, is the most dangerous if not detected early. It originates from melanocytes, the cells responsible for producing melanin, which gives color to the skin and protects it from harmful UV rays. As the skin tries to protect itself, it increases melanin production, resulting in tanning or the formation of moles.

In our commitment to advancing melanoma research and treatment, the Gold Coast Melanoma Clinic has partnered with the Australia New Zealand Melanoma Trials Group (ANZMTG). Together, we are conducting a phase III, multi-center randomized control trial investigating the effectiveness of different excision margins for primary cutaneous melanoma.

Additionally, we have joined forces with Griffith University to establish the Institute for Glycomics Melanoma Cell Bank. Led by Dr Nic Crampton as the Principal Investigator, this project aims to create a biospecimen bank that includes cell lines derived from ex vivo melanoma surgical specimens and matching blood donations. These valuable resources will be stored for melanoma research purposes.

Our clinic operates from Suite 4C at John Flynn Medical, conveniently located at 42 Inland Dr, Tugun, QLD 4224. We are open from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm on Fridays, ensuring accessibility for our patients. Please note that we are closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
