Welcome to Maverick Child and Adolescent Psychology, a Brisbane-based psychology and counseling service dedicated to improving the mental health of children and young people. Our institution is located at Kedron, Gympie Road, 538. As a psychology practice, we offer a range of psychological solutions for children and young people, including counseling and psychometric assessment for various difficulties.

At Maverick Child and Adolescent Psychology, we understand the importance of independence in thought and behavior, which is why we strive to provide unique and personalized care to each of our clients. Our founder, Michael Duhig, is an Educational and Developmental psychologist with extensive experience in child and youth mental health and child development.

With a background in government and non-government sectors, Michael has honed his clinical skills and is well-equipped to help children and adolescents facing difficulties such as anxiety, depression, emotional and behavioral regulation, trauma, and relationship issues. Drawing from his involvement in sports and his experience as a former international rugby union player, Michael can incorporate physical activity into therapy to engage and benefit his clients. Additionally, he is proficient in academic and cognitive assessments.

In addition to his clinical practice, Michael also holds the position of Clinical Research Manager at the Centre for Clinical Trials in Rare Neurodevelopmental Disorders at the Queensland Children's Hospital. In this role, he oversees multiple clinical trials assessing the effectiveness of novel pharmacological agents for rare disorders. He is also an Associate Lecturer at the University of Queensland and has presented lectures both domestically and internationally. Michael's keen interest in research has led to the publication of several articles in the field of child and youth mental health and child development.

Furthermore, Michael is a panel member for the Mental Health Scholarships Scheme for Allied Health Professionals within QLD Health and currently serves as the state Chair for the College of Educational and Developmental Psychologists, Queensland.
