About the Business
Welcome to Kindred Kids Early Intervention Centre, located at 9 Goshawk Boulevard in Buderim, Australia. As an establishment focused on health and a point of interest, Kindred Kids offers a brand new early intervention service for children with social communication challenges on the beautiful Sunshine Coast.
At Kindred Kids, our mission is to provide a small-group early intervention program for children with moderate to complex disabilities, particularly Autism. We are situated on the Sunshine Coast, known as Gubbi Gubbi country, in Queensland. Currently, we offer a dynamic bridging program while we eagerly await our transition into a fully integrated childcare and early intervention service.
Our center specializes in intervention for children aged 0-6 years with social communication challenges, with a particular focus on Autism. Children attend our small-group program one morning per week, where they can engage and learn alongside their peers. Additionally, they have an individual session one afternoon per week, receiving personalized supervision and support from their ESDM Practitioner. This combined approach allows our children to benefit from detailed oversight while also fostering connections with their peers.
Kindred Kids is owned and pioneered by Sam Gourley, an Occupational Therapist and passionate advocate for children's access to comprehensive early intervention. Sam firmly believes in incorporating this intervention into an inclusive early learning environment. Our goal at Kindred Kids Early Intervention is to make quality comprehensive early intervention the norm for young Autistic children.
Our Intervention Team is enthusiastic about creating a comprehensive Group-based Early Start Denver Model (G-ESDM) program for children on the Sunshine Coast. We deliver G-ESDM with fidelity, ensuring that our team is constantly adapting and collaborating to provide the best possible care. You can learn more about our Intervention Team on our website.
Our early intervention program is based on the world-renowned Early Start Denver Model (ESDM), a naturalistic developmental behavioral intervention approach. This model has proven to be one of the most powerful and effective methods of comprehensive early intervention. Evidence suggests that this approach positively impacts communication, cognitive skills, and play development. The ESDM has particularly strong evidence for improving outcomes in autistic children and their caregivers.
At Kindred Kids, we utilize the Group-based ESDM (G-ESDM) intervention within our clinic, based on the ESDM Curriculum. This approach provides children with natural opportunities for peer interaction while working on individualized goals. Our intervention combines both group and individual sessions to ensure a personalized and integrative experience for each child.
In addition to providing critical transdisciplinary intervention, we partner with parents and caregivers to train and develop their skills, amplifying the intervention in daily life routines at home or in the community. This collaborative approach leads to greater progress and quicker results in the child's early intervention journey.
Families of children with developmental delays can access our services through the National Disability Insurance Scheme, either via self-managed or plan-managed fund options. We believe in a family skill-building approach, empowering parents to support their child by increasing their capacity and embedding intervention into their daily routines. We also work closely with external community allied health providers and specialist services, welcoming input from other providers.
At Kindred Kids, we respect and acknowledge the Gubbi Gubbi people, the traditional custodians of the land on which we work. We recognize their continuing connection to the land, waters, and culture, and pay our respects to their Elders past, present, and emerging.
Join us at Kindred Kids Early Intervention Centre, where we strive to provide world-leading research-based intervention and support for children with social communication challenges on the Sunshine Coast.
