"Unprofessional and heartless receptionists. I felt of my bike on my way to UQ, and went and ask if they have a first aid kit I could use (bleeding knee and palms). They said they don’t have it and one of the Karen (think she was the cashier) told me use a wet wipe in the toilet to clean the wound and buy bandages from the campus pharmacy! Humanity dies"
"Really great doctors however have had some poor experiences with reception. Had an experience where I had a cold which caused an asthma attack the night before, came in to the clinic and the receptionist was really rude because she thought I had covid even after I said it wasnt covid. She said they have a policy and the dr can still see me but outside the doors of the clinic. She made me wait outside for an hour+ and during that hour I had checked with her 3 times to see how the dr was running and when the dr finally saw me for 3 minutes and she said she was not aware I was waiting outside and doesnt even understand because no one had told her I was outside lol. I still see the receptionist everytime I go but it was a pretty bad experience."
"The doctor I see here has been good, which saves this place from a 1-star rating. I, personally, did not receive much hassle with the reception when attending my appointments. However, a recurring theme I see with some receptionists is that they treat international students horribly. I’ve witnessed it almost every time I’ve been there. This includes a lot of yelling, disregarding, belittling language, and passive aggressiveness towards any of their enquiries. Just today, I saw a man who had been waiting for 30+ mins overdue from his appointment get yelled at in an angry manner & told “can you just wait and then nurse will be out in a moment”. He very politely told them how long he had been waiting, and was shunned off quickly. It also seems that due to the language barrier between cultures, some receptionists will resort to talking to people like they’re a toddler,, leaving them feeling belittled & unheard. Please do better than this!"
"Had an upsetting experience today while checking in for my appointment today. Upon checking in, I told the receptionist that I had forgotten my student ID card but I have my student number memorized. I was met back with judgement as the receptionist said “you need to bring it next time” insinuating i was grossly inconveniencing her. I shook my head, just showing a sign of frustration but agreed with her but her response to my head shake was rudely asking “if i have a problem, or if something is wrong with what she said”. After repeatedly explaining that i have my student id number memorized and that I had felt judgment in the way she told me that, I was met back with even more judgment and attitude. This resulted in a heated back and forth in the middle of the clinic while no other staff jumped in to deescalate. I was told that the clinic cares about students and would never show any judgement but while I repeatedly expressed to her my struggle to find and book an appointment, let alone one with a female doctor, the stress it gave me, i was met with no apology or empathy (which disregarded what she just said). I had to wait 30 minutes for my appointment crying for my doctor. Uq receptionists need to have more empathy, need to be more accommodating, and need to be better at their jobs. They have no idea what is going on in a students life, why they might be late, forget their student ID card or how much effort it took to get themselves to the doctors that day. Lovely doctors though. I went to see Dr Andrea and she was nothing but sincere and accommodating to me."
"I have been a patient at UQ Health for several years, and I am consistently impressed by the professionalism and friendliness of the doctors. In my experience, Chinese doctors often have biases and prejudices that lead to misdiagnosis, and they frequently prescribe expensive Chinese medicine that does not work for my body. However, UQ Health doctors prescribe only the necessary medications that fit your specific diagnosis. They also provide valuable advice and referral recommendations. The psychiatrists and psychologists at UQ Health are highly sought after, and you may need to wait a few months for an appointment. However, making an appointment with other GPs is quick and easy. I also appreciate the kindness of the staff at the front desk. Overall, UQ Health is a top-notch medical center that I highly recommend for their professional, friendly, and effective medical care."
