About the Business
Welcome to the ACU Medical Centre Brisbane, located at Banyo, Approach Road, 8. As a General Practice, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive and high-quality healthcare to ACU students, staff, and the local community.
At our practice, we prioritize your health and well-being. We understand that medical needs can arise outside of normal consulting hours, which is why we have partnered with the Home Doctor Service to ensure that our patients receive care even after hours. For more information, please visit the Home Doctor website. In case of a medical emergency on campus, please dial 000.
Our standard consultations are 15 minutes long, but if you have a complex problem or multiple concerns, please request a longer appointment. If you're unsure about the length of your appointment, our receptionist will be happy to assist you. Additionally, we offer telehealth appointments for our regular patients, which can be booked online or enquired about at the reception.
We strive to keep our appointments running on schedule, but sometimes urgent cases may cause slight delays. We apologize for any inconvenience and recommend calling ahead of your appointment to check the GP's availability. Walk-in appointments are also available, although availability may be limited during peak periods and will be triaged accordingly.
Please note that prescriptions, referrals, and medical certificates require an appointment. To ensure privacy and confidentiality, medical advice cannot be provided via email. If you have any concerns, please discuss them with your doctor during your appointment.
Our regular patients may be eligible for home visits within a 10km radius of the surgery, subject to the GP's discretion. If you require an interpreter, please inform us when making an appointment, and we will arrange it for you. Additionally, we encourage you to share your cultural background with your GP to deliver culturally appropriate care.
If you are unable to attend a scheduled appointment, please notify us as soon as possible. Repeated failure to attend appointments without notification may result in restrictions on further appointments.
ACU provides a range of support services for student health and wellbeing, including counseling and disability support. For more information, please visit our counseling and disability support pages.
Bulk billing is available for domestic (Medicare holding) and eligible overseas insurance holding (OSHC) ACU students, concession and healthcare card holders, Veterans Gold Card holders, and children under 16 years of age. For Allianz insurance holders, we process payments through their online system. Payments from other insurance providers can be processed using our HICAPS machine for an immediate refund, or you may be required to pay and claim a refund from your insurer.
Please ensure that you bring your current ACU student card and valid medical insurance details. Domestic students should also bring their Medicare card, while international students or dependents should bring their current medical insurance card, such as OSHC Allianz, NIB, BUPA, or Medibank Private.
When you undergo tests, your doctor will advise you on when to expect the results. Please make an appointment to discuss the results with the GP. Urgent results will be communicated to you by the doctor or a team member under the GP's direction, while routine results may be given over the phone if you have a booked appointment and it is deemed clinically appropriate.
We are committed to preventive care and may issue reminder notices via SMS for preventive health services. Your permission will be sought to include you on the reminder system. If you do not wish to receive reminders, please inform your GP or reception.
We value your feedback and welcome constructive criticism. If you have any concerns or are unhappy with the service provided, please speak to the National Practice Manager, Sports, Wellbeing and Residential Life at [email protected] or complete a feedback form available at the reception.
Please note that the ACU campus is a non-smoking facility, including the grounds of the Medical Centre.

"Fantastic doctors and receptionist!! Would give them 10 stars if I could."
"The doctors are nice, but my issue has been with the receptionist. She’s extremely rude and aggressive. Today I went in for a mental health care plan and asked why I was being charged as to my knowledge, they were bulk billed. I asked because last time I got my mental health care plan from there, they charged me when they weren’t supposed to, and I had to go back in so they could fix their error. Long story short she yelled at me and berated me, knowing I was there for my mental health. For that reason, I’ll never go back. I’d warn anyone going to be wary of her."
"Lovely staff. Receptionist is super friendly. Dr was amazing and very thorough. I highly recommend ACU Health Clinic!! It was the best experience I have had going to a Dr."
