Health Matters Karalee 19-27 Junction Road, Chuwar, Queensland 4306
About the Business
Welcome to Health Matters Karalee, a premier healthcare institution dedicated to providing first-class medical services to our local community in Australia. Located at Chuwar, Junction Road, 19-27, our institution encompasses a doctor's office, establishment, health center, hospital, and serves as a point of interest for those seeking top-notch healthcare.
Starting from Monday, 1st August 2022, we will be implementing an increase in our consultation fees. As the costs of operating a medical practice continue to rise each year, it is essential for the viability and sustainability of Health Matters that we adjust our fees accordingly. Rest assured, this adjustment is necessary to ensure that we can continue delivering the high-quality healthcare that you, your family, and the community deserve in the long run.
Please note that our new consultation fees, effective from 1st August 2022, will be as follows for our most common services:
We understand that some of our Health Matters' friends may not be eligible for concession cards. In the past, we have been generous and accepted the Medicare Rebate as full payment for consultations. However, due to the lack of indexation of Medicare Rebates in line with the increasing costs of operating a medical practice, and the inapplicability of bulk-billing incentive payments in these circumstances, we can no longer sustain such payment arrangements. Therefore, if this situation applies to you, please expect an out-of-pocket fee in the future. It is important to note that most general practice out-of-pocket fees contribute towards your Medicare Safety Net threshold, resulting in higher Medicare benefits once the threshold is reached. For more information on the Medicare Safety Nets, please visit https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/medicare-safety-nets.

"Everyone is so nice at this doctor's practice, especially Lyn. She's always incredibly helpful and guides you through appointments and inquiries with patience and care."
"I have been coming here for a few years seeing a doctor and I can’t thank him enough helping me with all areas of my health. I know whenever I see him he will listen to me and take my thoughts into consideration. I never feel rushed in my consultations and he is the person I go back to discuss further and process when me specialist have created a treatment plan as he explains things further in terms I can understanding and makes me comfortable with what the specialist are planning on doing. He is not a doctor to just give you a random script he will explore other treatment options and run further tests to find the cause. A few months ago I was in extreme discomfort and he rang the radiologist to book an appointment and followed up with telephone call a a few hours later with the results which was lovely especially when anxiety is running high of different possibilities The reception ladies, are such lovely professional people and I know at times when the phone is ringing they still take the time to make sure I have all I need. I recently needed the nurse multiple times for a wound, every time they were gentle and really caring. They always followed the necessary hygiene requirements which is reassuring when you are concerned of getting an infection. They also each time were gentle and made sure I wasn’t in pain. As someone who is allergic to adhesives they asked how I went with previous dressings and used a dressing that was best suited for my needs. Aside from the wound she also asked how I was managing at home to make sure I had support. In all aspects of Health Matters Karalee I cannot fault the treatment I have received. If I could do more stars I would."
"A great local practice with doctors who genuinely care and are skilled. I see Dr Brooke Miegel and Dr Imtiaz Ousmand who are both fantastic. I had something to be removed from underneath my scalp, and Dr Imtiaz removed it with precision. You cannot even see where the procedure occurred which I am so pleased with. I had considered a plastic surgeon as it was right at the front of my scalp but so glad I had Dr Imtiaz do it."
"I went in for treatment at karalee for over a year trying to find a diagnosis. I ended up in hospital because I did not receive the proper care. They have also lost my test results which caused a delayed treatment for a separate issue. This clinic is getting worse. I have been going here for 8years and never has it been this disorganised. This clinic put more stress on me that was needed. I will be avoiding coming here and will only be a last resort."
"As a survivor of Stage 4 Melanoma I have to say that Health Matters Karalee’s new policy of charging above and beyond a normal GP’s fees for a basic skin check is preposterous and extremely $$$$ opportunistic. Cruel in fact. As many will now choose not to bother or can’t afford it. And well, early diagnosis is key. Isn’t it? Trust me. Because I didn’t have that early check, despite a malignant mole, and was put off by a Medical Practice - until later, my whole life changed for the worse. Brain tumours and 1.5 metres of scars. And no I’m not doing well. But, to do this especially in the current economic climate, most will choose food over a routine skin check now that it’s an expensive extra cost skin check. Way to go Health Matters Karalee. They should change their name to anything but Health Matters. This practice has every opportunity to be a community orientated practice. Clearly it enjoys price gouging like many others and couldn’t give a dam about its community. Just as you’d expect from a lowlife mining company. Snatch and grab and take all you can. The best interest of its communities health appears to play second fiddle to snatch and grab profit. I wonder what the Cancer groups of Australia and the Melanoma Institute of Australia would think of this?? Not to mention anyone who has had, has melanoma or has lost someone to melanoma. A horrific experience! As my Mother use to say “Doctors don’t make mistakes. They just bury them!”. I suggest you keep looking further a field if you want a medical practice that is actually community oriented and not price exploitive like the big banks, mining companies, supermarkets and more. Many of whom are currently making massive record profits whilst fellow Australians are doing it very tough. Australia is a really awful shadow of it’s former self. Real sad actually. Fair go mate. Hmm? Good luck with that one."
