"I was bullied by one of the social workers over a disability I have and when I couldn’t answer her question she laughed at me and tried not to show it. Another employee made creepy comments about someone who was having a medical episode. I tried explaining over and over something that was happening to me mentally that wasn’t my fault at all and instead of being helpful they ignored my medical complaint and looked at an alternate option and got mad at me when their plan didn’t work."
"i was admitted to YPARC in hopes to aid my recovery and be supported by staff however my experience was anything but that! i made multiple complaints about other patients threatening physical violence that were not taken seriously. i had multiple staff members lie in order to make me look bad and all of tis resulted in me being forcefully discharged for something i didn't do and had no control over. the staff had no interest in helping me or other patients. It simply appeared that they were only there for their pay check and to all of us patients that was very clear. i am an extreme risk to myself and was discharged with no further support on the outside. i wouldn't wish an admission to this place on my worst enemy, my mental health is the worst its ever been since leaving i highly recommend you DO NOT go here."
"Y-Parc really is a wonderful place. I had such an incredible life changing experience at yparc. When I first entered yparc I honestly didn’t have high hopes for my recovery. I had already lost my will to live and didn’t think I could be happy again. Mental illness has been something I have struggled with for years. There are 2 compulsory classes you have to attend during the day at yparc. Both classes were always extremely helpful and beneficial. In the morning we had compulsory activities. Depending on the day we might have A Music class, stretching, yoga, art class, food and nutrition education or a cooking class. Then in the afternoons we would have another compulsory class were we would learn healthy skills like mindfulness, boundaries, building self esteem, core values, stress and anxiety management or a DBT class run by the Amazing psychologist, Samarah. Over the weeks I started to notice massive changes in myself. When I wasn’t sure what to do or if I was feeling anxious, I would always talk to the staff who always gave good advice and were so supportive. I can’t thank the staff enough for all their hard work. They really took the time to help me and always listened to my concerns if I had any. If I spoke about a particular issue, after our talks they would give me more information about the best place I can get help. Everyone was always laughing and having fun. The environment is so bright and beautiful. The art room is amazing. I loved that we got to choose and cook our own meals. It honestly felt like a family home. Now I am back in my normal life I frequently study the work books we received and constantly practice my new skills. I am the happiest I have ever been."
"Dr Duffy is super inappropriate and should NOT be the doctor our Peninsula YOUTH deserve. I went there in 2017 after a drug induced phycosis after stupidly using Ketamine while I was on Zoloft. It was a very dark of my life. After 4 weeks and refusing Prozac peddled to me by Dr. Duffy he told me.. "Well, I can cut it up into LINES so you can RAIL IT, if it makes you feel better".... That is such a messed up thing to say to a youth with previous drug issues... My god. I hope he doesn't work there anymore."
