"Leonard is a great guy and removed my wisdom tooth very efficiently with great care. Can’t recommend highly enough!"
"Saw Dr Leonard the first time and had two wisdom teeth taken out by him. The whole extraction was very pleasant. Dr Leonard and Alice talks you through the whole process while making you feel relaxed and unstressed. In and out within an hour! No sore, nor swelling afterwards (surprisingly) Follow up calls and check up afterwards to make sure how i was, was a very nice personal touch Very professional and trust worthy! Will be my regular dentist from now on, highly recommended ! CT"
"Leonard Leung saved my 6 year old son's tooth [ left lower premolar ] In 2016 I took my active but well behaved 6 yo son to a Dentist in the city who correctly diagnosed a rotten tooth .She said that nothing could be done to save the tooth and that he needed a dental extraction under general anaesthesia as he was too restless . Fortunately I decided to get a second opinion from Leonard who told be that an extraction may not be necessary as he can apply a special strong filling which should hold the tooth together and maintain its function. Leonards clear calm explanation and years of experience was impressive and now 3 years later my son's tooth is still intact and functioning."
"In short: Leonard is a REACTIVE dentist, not a PREVENTATIVE one. The quality of Leonard’s dental practice is by far below the industry standard. My critique of his services covers the of quality of his service, comfort of care, and bedside manner. 1. Quality of services X-rays of the teeth and gums should be taken every 1-2 years. Leonard only took x-rays sparingly, twice in eight years over the total course of my treatment with him since childhood until the age of 20. Until I sought the services of another dentist, I had no knowledge of the fact that I had a cavity which needed to be filled in addition to multiple (3-4) weak spots within my tooth enamel. I understand that dentists are all human and sometimes aren’t aware of problem areas that may crop up, however the damage to my teeth would have been picked up much sooner had Leonard used digital x-rays every 6 months after the initial filling of my first cavity. Leonard also hasn’t updated his practice to the newest and safest technologies – instead of using digital x-rays (which incidentally, can even be performed on pregnant patients with no issues of radiation), he uses the “old school” device, requiring patients to wear a lead vest. As a teenager, I noticed a brown spot on one of my molars and booked an appointment with Leonard for a check-up. He didn’t mention the spot to me, and I as a child I assumed nothing was wrong. After all, he’s a dentist, right? He would have said something. On my next appointment (within 1 year) I was informed that it was a huge cavity, needing local anaesthetic to be filled. It was an incredibly distressing and painful procedure, which subsequently also gave me the fear and distrust of visiting dentists that I still grapple with today. This additional mental load every time I schedule an appointment was an unnecessary, unpleasant side-effect of the care I received under Leonard’s practice. 2. Quality and comfort of care: Leonard has not once, in the entire course of my childhood, adolescence and young adult life taught and/or advised me on HOW to brush my teeth. As the “family dentist”, it is within his duty of care to continuously inform his patients of the correct preventative care methods, which he has severely neglected. He has never given me advice on how to arrest cavity or weak spots, and not once mentioned which areas of my mouth to brush either more carefully, or thoroughly. I have also experienced several rushed check-up appointments, presumably to make way for elderly clients with more complex (and therefore, expensive…) sessions. Dental care is a service that should never be rushed, especially due to its extortionate cost. 3. Bedside manner: Leonard’s bedside manner is overall lacking. He launches straight into work, without checking in with his patient to assess their comfort level or address their potential anxieties they have regarding the appointment. He doesn’t respond well to cues the patients give him, including muffled voices and arm movements (once during fluoride treatment I experienced difficulties breathing and after signalling extensively [which was brushed off]; I began crying which was the final catalyst for him to react and correct the positioning of the instrument). As a final note, he still doesn’t file health-insurance claims which is a standard customer service practice across all the other surgeries I have enquired with. In summary: Leonard’s practice is not up-to-date, and does not provide what I consider adequate, let alone acceptable levels of dental care."
"I discovered Dr Leonard Leung, dental surgeon about 22 years ago. At that time, my former childhood dentist had just handed over his practise to his son, whom we soon found was endowed with the most deplorable chair-side manner when dealing with our then 5 year old son. Quite quickly, my wife and I knew a change was necessary. Leonard was an absolute breath of fresh air, and has remained so, consistently, to this day. He is specific and exact in his work. His attention to detail and quality of dentistry is beyond reproach. He’s also a marvellous “people person”, displaying natural care and concern for all his patients, whether they are your child, your parents in their 90s or yourself (all of which I personally vouch for!). His service even extends so far that he provides patients with his personal mobile 24/7 – try and get that availability and dedication from any other medical professional! Leonard is well educated and informed of all the latest developments in dentistry, and his passion shines through not only in his work, but in his mentorship of early career dentists. My whole family and I cannot speak more positively of the quality of Leonard’s work and friendly approach, and would highly recommend him to anyone."
