"Absolutely fabulous venue where the staff and Management go above and beyond in helping in anyway possible. The Castle is situated in the heart of Claregalway and quick & easy accessibility to Galway and the west but also Munster with excellent roadlinks. We catered a 300+ Corporate Event last night here which went off without a hitch and this had a lot to with the staff and Management. The Castle is magical and really brings history back to life with all new modern facilities as part of the set up. A venue which sits very comfortably for Corporate, events/family parties and Weddings . A true Gem of a Venue ."
"We were able to stay at this gorgeous location for 3 nights. The rooms were excellent and clean. We got ample of breakfast each morning and a bottle of red wine greeted us on day 1. We were lead on an informative tour through the castle as well."
"The renovations were spectacular! The tower is not accessible to those who can't do stairs. There is only one staircase and it is narrow and winding. There are great rope hand holds on both sides, though. The views from the upper windows are also stunning. The Great Hall is a perfect place to get a great photo of the ruins across the road. I hear the B&B is great, as well."
"Beautiful grounds. Usually have 3 or 4 festivals each year and many open days. We went during heritage week and it was a free tour including the roof top. Nice walk along the adjoining river to finish off. It is also possible to book an air b n b on the grounds and stay there for a night or two. Right on the n83 and very accessible from galway"
"First and foremost, if you have considered staying here, DO IT! Staying at Claregalway Castle isn't like staying at a normal hotel, it's an experience all on its own. Obviously the castle is old and has history, it's proximity to the city is fantastic but the rich history that's inside the castle itself it also amazing. The owner has gone to great lengths to recreate the castle and how it would have been in the past. So much so that much of the furniture in the rooms is hundreds and in some cases over a thousand years old! Heck, our bed was over 1300 years old! The sheer magnitude of effort and love that has gone into recreating this lovely place is only second to the passion that the people who work there have for it. John has been mentioned many times in both Airbnb reviews and reviews on Google: he's the man. His love of the history and architecture of the castle and what the country of Ireland has to offer is infectious. While you can walk around the castle yourself and just read the book to learn we decided to let John lead the way. We were fortunate to be able to do a full tour of the castle with John, I presume it would have taken about 30 minutes if we had just walked the castle and let him mention the history. Instead, we ended up chatting and having a great conversation and 3 hours later had some great laughs and a sorrow of having to leave. Claregalway Castle was by far the pinnacle of our trip to Ireland and we will be sure to make it back when we come back to Ireland!"
