"Deirdre and Jim run a wonderful pharmacy here, just like Deirdre's father Michael did before them. There are always plenty of staff there to assist everyone with any sort of problem, and are always most discrete in their dealings with you. Always well stocked, and able to find a product that will suit you best. If you need something and it's not in stock it's ordered immediately. My ADHD medication can't be kept in stock, but if I ring in the morning, it's there to collect by that evening. Gifts and perfumes are also covered with their own gift shop next door. If I'm ever in the need for a present or a hamper I need only mention who it's for and Catriona or Amelia will have it sorted, ready, and wrapped for me as quick as a flash. Amelia has been looking after me for as long as I can remember! This is, and always has been, a family run business; and their values and kindness as a family have always shone through. Generations of families in Portlaoise only go to one chemist, and for my family it has ALWAYS been Hughes."
