"Free self guided walking tour inside the former workhouse (which is now a remodeled modern shopping mall) At the kiosk they give you headphones and a small device to listen to stories about the workhouse and its roll in the 1840-50’s before and during the famine."
"We had A Wonderful experience learning about the Kilkenny Workhouse it should be a Must for all visitors. A big thanks Dominique for the time given to explain the tour to us."
"We spent about 45 mins walking around learning about the old famine workhouse in the Macdonagh shopping centre. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. It's completly free and the stories are very poignant."
"Unbelievable!! would highly recommend this. It is based in the shopping center and surrounding area as for this is where the famine work house was. You wear earphones for the audio and a small video screen for pictures etc this screen is the size of a mobile phone. Very informative and very sad history. Definitely a must for people to go to and hard to believe but it is free."
"Very informative and interesting. If you haven't been before and don't know what you're looking for it's not too easy to find. Go straight to the customer service desk in the shopping centre, near the food court. This is the starting point and where you pick up an interactive screen, that gives you audio and video prompts. This is a self led tour with points in the shopping centre to visit, noting old sections from the Kilkenny workhouse."
