Kilkea Castle Hotel & Golf Resort , County Kildare R14 XE97

"Castle Kilkea is an amazing and beautiful place. We booked a room in the lodges, which was our only disappointment (we should have read more thoroughly to realize it wasn't a room in the castle itself). This was quickly forgotten though when we headed to the bar for a drink and met Andrew, the bartender. He makes the best whisky sour I've ever had. In fact, every drink he made my husband and I were the best we've had. He is exactly what you think of when you think of a perfect bartender. He was social and laughing with the guests while still being attentive and quick with the drinks. He also gave us spot on recommendations for the rest of our our trip. All of the staff at Castle Kilkea were amazing in fact, attentive and quick to help with anything we asked for (and sometimes things we hadn't even had a chance to ask for yet). Stay at Castle Kilkea, but make sure you hit up the bar when Andrew is working."

"We went here for our honeymoon. It was a fantastic experience coming from America, truly second to none. We spent a couple of nights in a luxury castle room on the 2nd floor, (3rd floor American). Their food options were far better than what was expected for a typical resort setting. We would highly recommend this place. John, the host, was fantastic and took the time to explain the property's history and recommended a great place to hike just off the property. A must place to stay if you're visiting Ireland!"

"Fabulous stay. From the lunch on arrival to a beautiful warm bedroom on a snowy afternoon both my friend Susan and I had an amazing experience. The spa & treatments were a welcome addition to our stay. Then the fine dining in 1182 was deliciously prepared & enjoyed with some wine. The next morning the breakfast was a feast to set us up for the day ahead. Thanks to the wonderful staff of the castle and Adrian for all their hospitality. Will definitely return again. Rita"

"Such a gorgeous, real castle to stay in! The grounds are absolutely beautiful. The staff is fantastic; so helpful & ready to please. Delicious breakfast in the main castle, which is really cool to explore, and dinner in the Hermine restaurant, in the clubhouse was delicious. The maître d' was brilliant, and made us feel so welcome. Definitely save room for dessert. We stayed in the carriage rooms and felt so pampered. The room was huge! And had a lovely tea and coffee arrangement for our pleasure. While I was exploring the grounds I stumbled upon the ruins of a chapel & graveyard that dates back to the original days of the castle, back in the 11th century! Amazing! We only stayed one night but I’d love to return and stay longer!"
