"Plan and prepare before going. This is a wonderful place to see. The challenge of climbing the over 600 steel steps is real, and hard. This place is not for most and has a real chance of you getting hurt. READ the safety information on their web site before going, and take vary seriously. If your up to the challenge, them you should go."
"Visited Skellig Michael with Skellig Coast Adventures on the Skellig Walker boat. The Walker is a bit bigger than most of the boats that go out to the island and has an indoor and outdoor seating area and a toilet on board. Certainly recommended from that point of view. The skipper and first mate were great. Very chatty and knowledgeable about the whole area. The time on the island is ample as there isn't a huge amount to see or do, so take your time going up the steps to see the monastery. It is quite a remarkable place and well worth the visit. Between May and September the puffins are there and are quite amazing."
"40/45 minutes in a small boat from Portmagee until the Island. If the weather is nice you will have an amazing view from above and also from the boat. Hiking shoes are advised and also a waterproof jacket. 20/30 minutes to arrive at the top and you will see nice puffins all around! Take your time to go up, if you suffer from vertigo it could be a bit difficult but will be worth it! There is a toilet only at the beginning."
"John is an excellent tour guide, be warned you will get wet, so bring waterproofs (although a few are provided on the boat) and the ride is rough, I enjoyed it but not for those who have sea sickness. Bring able to see the skellig’s was amazing, got some great information and excellent views."
