Cork's Vienna Woods Hotel and Holiday Homes , Glanmire, County Cork T45 V065

"Kudos to both Andrea and Susan, both exemplary staff and a credit to Vienna Woods however there my satisfaction ends. Part of this hotel is under construction, which our tour organizer was unaware of. My husband and I were placed in a room in the 400 series, which exposed us to fumes and incomplete renovations. Exposed wires, hallways with newly drywalled exteriors, unfinished hand rails and baseboards, basic amenities in the rooms which, although appearing finished, lacked wifi and smelled. We opened the window to bring in fresh air only to be exposed to a construction site with the associated smells. We ended up sleeping with masks on. Susan had graciously provided us a fan to help with air flow. Our bus driver, who was in one of the older portions of the hotel, kindly offered to switch rooms with us however another member of our tour, who had serious allergies, needed the room. In addition. the hotel appeared to be at capacity for both bar and restaurant areas. The staff appeared to be swamped. We got a table in the dining room, we had missed our reservation because of the state of our room, due to another couple having walked out when they had to wait too long for service. Another couple on our tour had to order in pizza because of the poor quality of the bar pizza. Our arrival at the hotel should not have been a surprise as we were pre booked as a tour group and had earlier in the day been asked by our driver to indicate whether or not we were planning to eat our evening meal in the restaurant or bar. There were 30 on our tour. Further more, the hotel set a time for us to attend the breakfast buffet which was half an hour later than our usual time which impacted our schedule for the rest of the day. I did address our concerns with senior management and called the tour organizer in order to advise of the issue with our room however there were no other options available and the senior manager's only response was " we have been renting out those rooms for two weeks and no one has complained." We were later informed that two weeks was an exaggeration and that it had only been 5 or 6 days and I would note that there are a number of other reviewers who have recently expressed similar concerns. Until such time as this venue has fully completed their renovations I would not recommend this hotel. Even at that the front line staff appeared on our single stay to be stretched thin but putting in a valiant effort to meet the expectations of the guests."

"Nice place to stay, great food and decent atmosphere. Only given one key card for the room which was an issue for me and my partner though, as I needed to crash early due to work, and she was planning on enjoying a wedding we were booked in for. Resulting in a broken sleep as I was clock watching with the fear of missing her knocking the door. Beer bottles rattling under our window into the wee hours helped with that however. I assume this was down the wedding taking place which is understandable. But unfortunate for the other guests.. Aside from that the food was delicious, and the service overall was second to none."

"The attention to detail by the staff here is impressive. Was having a study day and every lsdt thing was done for us. Delicious home baked scones, started our day and we were super impressed. Comfy beds, power showers and great food. Thanks to Chloe, Abby and Susan plus all the many gents for taking care of our wee group."

"My sisters and I stayed here for a few days in September and it was the best place we stayed at while visiting Ireland. The staff were all nice, the beds were comfy and the shower was excellent. It's up a little winding road so there's no traffic passing by all night. The hotel itself is beautiful. I would stay here again given the chance."

"From the time we parked our car on arriving at this amazing venue to meeting a lovely smiling lady at reception to been guided to the restaurant our experience was exceptional. Again the waitress serving our table was so friendly & chatty & always with a smile. The food was so tasty & beautiful. We sat around for a few hours & kept offering us more tea & no pressure whatsoever to move on. Have to say the Christmas trees & decorations are so nice & makes the Vienna Woods so welcoming & such a nice cosy warm atmosphere there. Can’t wait for our next visit. Well done to all the team of the Vienna Woods Hotel."
