Reviews
"This is a Bed and Breakfast, run by an elderly couple, in the lap of a beautiful Irish landscape - surrounded by hills, a babbling brook or two, and a farm. We spent a night there while returning from Mizen head. Location, as already mentioned is really nice. The hosts are very helpful and friendly. They serve a filling and tasty breakfast (you can have bacon nd sausages or eggs and we took the eggs option) of scrambled eggs, toast, tea/coffee, orange juice, and fresh fruits. You can advise the hosts as to when you want to have your breakfast and if you need an early morning tea. Rooms are comfortable and warm as well as neat and clean. They had actually left the heating running a couple of hours ahead so when we came in, it was very comfortable. Overall, very nice experience and we would visit again when around Killarney!"
"Unfortunately, our room was a bit cold and dirty. Unfortunately, the drain in the bathroom didn't work properly so that the bathroom almost flooded when you took a shower. The breakfast was okay, our packed lunch for the hike was unfortunately a bit poor. The owners were very nice and made an effort. Unfortunately a bit worse compared to other B&Bs of our trip at similar prices."
"Mary and Rob are wonderful hosts. I stayed here back in 2016 and still remember fondly of my stay at Hillcrest Farmhouse. To start off, the location is breathtaking. Drive through the Gap of Dunloe and down the winding roads of the Black Valley (carefully, one lane with pull-overs). Arriving at the mist-laden B&B was such a welcoming experience. There are sheep grazing in the yard, and their friendly cat greeted us. The room we stayed in was small, but comfortable. And the traditional Irish breakfast was an absolute delight. I am patiently waiting the time when I may return for another visit."
"Location of B&B is literally in the mountains. Beautiful & Peaceful. For us Floridans the roads were super scary. All one lane roads but once you accept the roads the views are breathtaking to Hillcrest. Rooms were kozy. Heaters on. TV but no reception/channels. They do have WiFi...huge plus! Breakfast was awesome! Wish we had more time to walk around."
