"Great price and right on the Kerry Way. No clear directions on check in, we had to wait around a bit knocking on different doors. Space was quiet and clean and bunks comfortable enough though very low if on the bottom bunk. No towels were provided for showering or drying hands. Breakfast was quite the feast for the price."
"Very nice hostel, I was there in september 2001 when 9/11 happened, there is a kitchen where you can cook and there are beautifull walks to do or scenic routes by mountainbike. I was there with 2 Belgian friends (we were around 23 years old I think), by mountainbike; we went from Black Valley hostel to Sneem and Parknasilla by MTB and back to black valley hostel (+-71 km through smalls roads and mountain paths). We underestimated the road back from Parknasilla by MTB, we had no warm clothes and it was getting dark, we also had no lights on our rented MTB (dangerous on the sometimes busy road N70), At about 20 or 15 km from Black Valley Hostel a friendly man we had yelled at his house for help (we were not sure if we were lost and getting very cold (rain, no coats, no more food or drinks) drove us in his pijama's in the night back to Black Valley Hostel, no more kinder people on earth than Irish men! I will never forget that!"
"Wonderful place, beds were so comfortable and clean, also the bathrooms. the kitchen have all the things you could need and breakfast was amazing, a very nice place to stay if you are walking on the kerry way"
"Great hostel for any travellers. The black valley offers stunning landscapes and you will find a warm retreat there. Clean rooms, bedsheets, self-catering kitchen, friendly staff and cheap accommodation."
"Had a really nice stay at the hostel - they also have a very small shop, if you’ve forgotten a couple of supplies. They recently got a card machine too, so you can pay for hostel stays with card (shop is still only cash). The hostel itself was really nice, if a tiny bit expensive at €19.50 per person for dorm bed. No mixed dorms. Right along the Kerry Way, so perfect place to stop if you’re walking it."
