"Really liked this little spot and can imagine it being a very busy place for lunch time, given the surrounding commerce in the area. I was a bit early, at around noon, and there were only a few patrons. There were only 3 spots open when I was there…Dips Asian, Brendan’s Burritos, and Soma Coffee (which also serves breakfast I believe). There is LOTS of bench seating and it seemed to be dog friendly with bowls of water available. It’s a fairly small car park (I imagine most walk from the surrounding area), and there are bathrooms available on the exterior of the building. Not open Monday or Tuesday."
"This market would be considered by many as the "alternative" to the Marina Market. While not as big, it seems to be laid out in a more orderly fashion. It also appears to be cleaner. As the name suggests, the market is painted entirely in black, which makes it feel a little dark but that can add to its appeal too. The selection of food is limited, with only 3 food outlets currently operating, namely Dips (Asian food), Brendan's Burritos, and Burnt Pizza. You also have Soma Coffee which offers (in my opinion) far superior coffee to anything at the Marina Market. They also sell their own branded coffee, which is fast becoming one of the best in the city. A glass window exposes the on-site area where they roast beans and bag the coffee beans for sale. More food outlets are planned in the coming weeks; for example, Pie Guys will be in one of the empty containers soon. Speaking of which the whole area is constructed like a.minecraft city, using converted shipping containers painted black. I'd recommend the nachos from Brendan's Burritos as a snack. I had intended to photograph the food but unfortunately devoured it before I remembered. Parking is limited but usually sufficient. Good for a stop off on the way to Pairc Uí Caoimh."
"Really love this spot for the events and food!! I’ve been to the sustainable / vintage market several times now and it’s always a treat. Have picked up some absolute gems from the clothes swap. Really really impressed. Regarding the food, I’d highly recommend the red curry from Dip w/ chips. Wow. Some of the best Asian food in Cork in my opinion. Soma has a stall there as well if you’re just looking to get some coffee. Honestly feel like this place deserves more hype — will definitely be back!!"
"First time in The Black Market. First impressions were very good - the venue is not too big or not too small, with plenty of seating. Enjoyed excellent Buttermilk Chicken & Eggs Benedict, with good service and friendliness at the Egg Bar & Burger Bar in the Black Market, Monahan Road, Cork. Would certainly recommend a visit."
"A great place to get a bite to eat and a coffee. Large indoor seating area as we all know what the Irish weather can be like. Outdoor seating also available. Coffee is roasted on site.......and yes, it's good. Seafood, pizza and pretty much everything in between available. Parking available but does tend to fill up quickly. Marina walk nearby is you need to burn off the calories."
