"Extremely disappointing experience using Higginbotham Interiors. We ordered 3 wardrobes, 2 alcove units and a TV unit which we were told, when paying our 50% deposit, would be fit the first week of September. The first alarm bell was trying to get the measurements taken; we were told this would be done around 7pm of an evening and ended in a no-show. Same story the next day, however Des didn't show up til after 9pm. In reality, the work wasn't done until the middle-end of September. We were fobbed off day after day when we tried to tie down a start date, being given any and every excuse known to man. Days turned into weeks. Even when we explained that we needed the work finished due to visiting family, we were met with indifference. The day the bulk of the work happened, my partner was told the workers would start in the morning while we were at work and my partner advised the workers were to leave by 6pm. When I got home at 4.30pm, they weren't even half way through the work we had been promised they would start that morning. When I asked roughly what time they would be finished at, I was told 7.30 which I advised was unacceptable. They said they would come back the next day, which Des had been told was not possible as we had family staying from abroad. Des showed up at the house after 8pm, no apology or acknowledgement that this was an unacceptable time to still be working on a job despite the fact my partner had told him the work was to continue no later than 6pm. At 9pm there was no sign of the work finishing and I asked Des himself what time he would be finished at; that I have a neighbor next door going through cancer treatment and that it wasn't ok to be drilling so late. I didn't even get a reply to this and I left the house to go to nearby family, hoping that when I returned, the work would be finished. Myself and my partner returned home just before 10pm. Des and his workers were still working and my partner more or less had to ask them to leave. The work itself, although looks well, was thrown in. The TV has chunks of paint missing that need to be filled, in parts the paint has bubbled, there are visible scratch marks on the unit as well as the fact that the holes cut out for cables were done incorrectly and not as we had asked. We are still awaiting a shelf for the alcove unit and the boiler press door was different to the rest of wardrobe doors. We have a snag list done up but Des only came back to fix one or 2 small snags. We have been unable to get him on the phone for weeks, yet my partner received a text asking him to phone the office and when he phoned, was asked for payment for the outstanding amount. At this point, my partner asked to speak to Des and tried to make contact with him, but has received no reply. We are disgusted with the treatment received; we paid up our deposit immediately before any work had started, were more than accommodating when we received excuse upon excuse as to why the work was delayed/why Des couldn't make it out or was running late and what have we received in return? Absolute disrespect, substandard finish of what we ordered and the audacity to ask for payment of same."
