"I love Totnes and visit at least twice a year to meet friends. On a recent visit we had coffee at St Mary's Church and lunch at the Steam Packet amd enjoyed shopping, especially at Salago. The only downside to our visit was on returning to Totnes station to catch our respective trains home to Truro and Taunton, we found all the toilets closed! They apparently have to be locked at 4 pm. This was not good news!"
"Conveniently situated in the centre of town. Very helpful and friendly staff offer advice and information on the local area."
"Attractive town but spoiled by traffic. High Street choked with car fumes, and so were we."
""VISIT TOTNES"....... From the River Dart you can walk up the narrow, old world, main high street, which features a compendium of different shops, for your vegetables, fresh foods, exotic foods, fish + chips, cinema films, clothing, house hold antiques, artistic paintings, etc, to the 'TOTNES CASTLE', with commanding views of the local area, even experience the views from the local 'TOTNES LIBRARY'.........Though it can be difficult to find a place to park the car, just ask the locals.......The River Dart here is tidal + you can travel to Dartmouth when the boats are running, where there is another age old castle.....Unfortunately, Wild Salmon which have used the River Dart in their thousands are now, rarely seen, less Wild Salmon return to their spawning grounds every year.....After torrential rain storms the River Dart can be seen in full flood, up to 3ft above the normal, if you carefully walk up river from "TOTNES"......Other attractions in the local area can be found at the web site, " VISIT TOTNES"......."
