"Very good service My brother used them very helpful staff Especially the tilehill branch coventry Excellent staff"
"Terrible slow service and rude staff"
"CONSISTENTLY LACKING AFTER SALES SUPPORT! Happy pleasant and helpful staff. Purchased a Lamona single oven model LAM3704. Initially pleased but soon the oven developed a problem of changing the heat setting by its own volition! The display would rise and lower oven temperature of its own accord and not reliable when using the oven. We were never confident the displayed temperature matched that inside the oven. We called the service number, an engineer came by to diagnose a faulty circuit board. Engineer returns at a later date to replace circuit board. All seems good. Not for long though. Same problem returns with unreliable heat settings along with random beeping sounds. We video the problem and go along to the Tile Hill branch of Howdens to report the fault. Another engineer is sent at a later date. Engineer views the video and says we’ve been using the oven settings incorrectly. They refer to the user manual and apparently puts us ‘right’. We take note of their advice and modify our use of the oven controls. Mmm.. It’s not many days later that the same problem reoccurs! How can this be? We’re now well and truly confused and stop following this up for the time being. A month passes and I decide to pursue this again at the Howdens branch. They’re surprised it hadn’t been resolved. Yes, we are too. After looking at the user manual as I did when first using the oven I realise we were never using the settings incorrectly like the previous engineer informed us! The guide is pretty simple to understand. So there’s another wasted 6 weeks we’ve been with a faulty oven after an uniformed engineer wrongly advises us. The Howdens manager sends a request for another engineer to look at the oven. Mmm…Maybe 4 weeks pass and we haven’t heard from an engineer. Now as time passes the oven has developed another fault. The digital display has fallen back into the housing and is now mostly unresponsive. I’ve taken a picture of that too. I pop back to the Howdens branch and see the manager. He’s surprised the oven hasn’t been repaired. Yes, we are too. He fires off another request for an engineer to visit us. Maybe another 4-6 weeks pass by and we don’t hear anything further. No engineer contacts us. I return to the Howdens branch to the surprise of the manager. Mmm…this is getting rather tiresome I think. The manager is understandably frustrated. Yes, we are too as how many months have passed by to get nowhere forward with the faulty oven. The reason we purchased the Lamona oven was to replace an oven that was faulty that nearly electrocuted my Mum! Yes, that oven was sparking inside when mum reached in to lift out a baking cake. That particular oven was supplied to us by a different company and NOT from Howdens. So there I am. I tell the Howdens branch manager that this is now a matter of health and safety as the Lamona oven is faulty, falling apart, choosing heat settings randomly by itself and it can’t be trusted! Going by our experience of the previous oven there’s a real concern now that we don’t know what the Lamona oven will do next? To us it’s now a health and safety hazard. We request a refund for the Lamona oven to which the manager agrees. Thankfully. We just want to be released from this situation so we can purchase an oven from a different company that can support us should we need it. Howdens ‘back office’ system that is used to request engineers to attend to a customer is absolutely hopeless, unreliable, and has let down ourselves and the staff of the Tile Hill branch of Howdens. How can they support their customers when there’s no effective system in place? Will their ’back office’ system need an engineer to fix that? How long will they be waiting I wonder? Mmm… This has had some impact on us and we feel we’ll never choose Howdens again if that option comes up in the future. Never to be relied upon. Particularly if it involves the need of an engineer to repair your oven anytime soon! My top tip? Choose a local, long serving, Independent company for your new oven…."
