"Stayed at this hotel for a weekend with friends. It's packed with character, full to the brim with items of interest. The main building has 4 lounges a bar and a restaurant. We opted for the superior rooms which were spacious and luxurious. Food was good, though menu was limited. Service was lacking, mainly down to bring understaffed and the hotel being full, so that can be improved. We had an enjoyable weekend and am very happy to recommend to others."
"Absolutely loved our stay here. Room was quirky, very different, but spotlessly clean and really warm, comfortable and cosy. Loved it. Big walk in shower which was really powerful and warm. Staff were extremely courteous and very helpful. Bar was different to any other bar I been to but the uniqueness made it all the more special. Decor in all the reception rooms and the bedroom was very cool, love the art collection. But the best part, had to be the evening meal. Food was out of this world. I love my food and have had lots of fine dining experiences at some of the best restaurants, but this was definitely right up there. Comfortable, casual, relaxed restaurant and the food was spot on, with good size portions. Breakfast was perfect to, I usually love an all you can eat buffet breakfast but this was outstanding anyway. All in all, absolutely 5 star all round."
"Rudloe Arms may not be for everyone. If you want formulaic "ordinary", suggest you go elsewhere. If you want the expected, a typical branded hotel, then book another property. HOWEVER, if you want a fabulous experience that ignites all the senses, go to Rudloe. It's quirky, it's different, it's a little bit of escapism mixed with the extraordinary. It's Marco Pierre White's home. His furnishings, his art collections, his stunning gardens, his team and of course, his food. We were made welcome from the moment we arrived. The 4 lounges provide the most interesting backdrop for a relaxing evening. Just when you think you've seen it all, you eyes divert off to another of Mr White's quirky artefacts. The atmosphere is relaxed, not pretentious and yet you still feel special. We spoke with other guests and the Rudloe team. Marco himself mixed with the guests, introduced us to his family and provided some insight into the hotel and his vision. Thank you Team Rudloe for looking after us so well. It may not be for everyone, but it was for us.... fabulous."
"What an amazing place to stay and eat! Loved it. The room was beautiful with great artwork, lovely furniture and a massive shower. Spotlessly clean. The house is stunning with relaxing lounges to sit in and enjoy. The food and service was fantastic, staff were polite and worked hard. We will definitely be back."
"I recently stayed at Rudloe on 1st June for two nights. We stayed in room 323 which was a nice room but we had a few issues: the shower drain was blocked so I had to turn off the water half way through washing my hair, wait for the water to drain and then continue. I had to stop the water twice otherwise it would’ve flowed out of the shower tray on to the floor. The mirror needs to be moved to over the dressing table rather than above the kettle, it was extremely awkward to apply make or blow dry our hair. I did come to reception on various occasions to discuss these matters but the door was locked. I was very disappointed with the restaurant having the same menu every night, as a vegetarian with no choice but beetroot and gnocchi, I didn’t expect to have the same meal two nights in a row. I asked the waiter Josh about this, his response was “we change the menu seasonally” then walked off, whispered to a young lady to take our order then he didn’t serve us for the rest of the evening. I felt embarrassed and uncomfortable at Josh’s response as it was uncalled for. At breakfast I asked if I could have juice as I don’t eat eggs and was only able to have toast, the response was that I’d have to pay the surcharge. When I book a stay with breakfast I don’t expect to have all these extra surcharges, usually everything is included. I’ve honestly had better breakfasts at the Premier Inn! On a positive note I would like to acknowledge Jack who was attentive to my friends dietary restrictions and Eva who was friendly and helpful. It’s a shame she doesn’t have any one else covering reception when she’s not there, usually hotels have 24/7 reception cover."
