"Hello, My name is John Edward Tuohey and I'm an American/Irish from NYC, New York. In 1965 I was visiting my grandparents, James & Martha McMahon from Cavendish Street. I was hit by a truck (Lorry) on The Falls Road and brought to this hospital. I was around 9 years old and the nurses and doctors saved my life and rebuild my leg with a hammer and chisel, back in the day. The nurses and doctors that performed my miracle may or may not be around anymore. But I want to thank them and this Hospital for not giving up on me and achieving the impossible! I was definitely at Death's door when they wheeled me in there. I'm 66 years old now and still going strong. Thank you. I would recommend this hospital to everybody with a sick or hurt child! Go easy on the staff performing miracles is a tough job but doable! I'm walking, talking proof!"
"Staff great but run off their feet as usual. But the waiting are and toilets are stinking, not very nice to bring sick children to"
"If a parent brings a child through those doors, don’t talk down on them, don’t tell them how and why they are wasting your time through your attitude towards them. Show some empathy, put yourself in their shoe. No one wants to keep a sick child at home and fold their hands waiting for a miracle. Show some kindness by how you approach and talk to them when they come through those doors. The little expressions towards them say a lot. Show some kindness. I feel so hurt. But as a healthcare worker myself, I understand the pressure. I do not have to mention my wife’s profession for you to respect my conviction that my child may be sick and finally draw empathy. What of other parents who are NOT healthcare workers?"
"Great hospital! Looked after very quickly and staff are just super whoever you meet. Thank you very much. Now, if the Trust could sort out the parking at the Children’s that would be a bonus. Too far to walk from the main car park and you can’t exactly dump your child at the door whilst you hunt a space so going on your own with a sick child is impossible."
"My baby was seen quickly by experienced & compassionate staff. They treated baby as an individual, explaining everything to him (even though he didn't understand, it was nice that they acknowledged him). Felt comfortable leaving with clear treatment plan. Premises were bright and as clean/tidy as you would expect for very busy children's hospital. Knocked 1 star off the review because very poor parking - this is no reflection on the staff!!"
