"Poor care experienced by my husband, in fact a lack of care, empathy & respect. Leaving a poorly cancer patient alone in A&E for 18.5 hrs without seeing a doctor & having to communicate with rude staff doesn’t help the worst scenario a family face. This certainly isn’t an outstanding hospital"
"Absolute joke….. I went there 3 months ago to have a catheter removed as it was blocked and I could pass urine. 10 hour wait to then be told another 9 hours. I told them I was in that much pain but they said all you can do is wait. In the end I had to go home and remove myself. Just been back again tonight. Waited 5 hours and was told my name was shouted 3 times and because I was not there they took me off the list. I had not left my seat. Worst hospital in the world. Wouldn’t got back ever again."
"Following on from surgery for an open fracture, I came to Whiston to have a split skin graft. Long story short, the whole procedure was done in a day, I was home by 7pm! Agata the surgeon, and the plastics team took good care of me and I couldn't have asked for more. 5* to them. Now this is where the rest of the story goes; on a subsequent visit, I was transferred to the orthopaedic ward downstairs to get my cast removed to allow the dressings to be changed - this procedure required cooperation between 2 departments. The communication between the two was initially farcical. A nurse from dressings dept would not open the removable cast I had to change the dressings. Even though multiple nurses and doctors (from another hospital) had done exactly the same procedure before! Eventually a compromise was agreed and the two depts worked out a system to cater for me. So, I'd give 5* for the orthopaedic team for managing my 4 fibreglass cast changes. But I'd give >4* for the strange inter-departmental miscommunications and other shortfalls. That being said, I am truly grateful for the treatment that I received. So thank you Whiston."
"I came to this hospital at 5:30 in the morning. I am a pregnant woman and have been in Liverpool Women's Hospital before. I chose Whiston Hospital because it is close to my home and I waited for more than three hours. Why did you put a needle in my hand and make me sit and wait for 3 hours, the blood flowed back, and I still didn't hear the doctor or nurse call me? The service in this hospital is really bad. If I could choose now, I would not choose this hospital again.I'm sorry, it was my mistake. I didn't wait three hours, I waited 12 hours, and I seriously doubt this is an emergency."
"Lovely hospital run by lovely people, can't praise the staff in here enough, everyone is so helpful and have gone out of their way to make sure I knew what was going on , the NHS is massively under funded and the NHS staff deserve more than they are getting paid, I'd like to see free parking put in place for All NHS staff from the bottom to the top,"
