"Too long; didn’t read: would absolutely recommend this place! Details: I think that I am a self-proclaimed nail polish expert. An amateur, but well-versed on what happens in the nail world, if I can say so. I’ve always done nails for my friends, family, and anyone who’s ever interested and in my vicinity. And I don’t trust anyone to do my nails. One day I was feeling blue so I decided to get a pedicure and just googled places close to me. Modern nails and beauty seemed like a good fit and they had availability on the same day (always a plus!) I only intended to get a pedicure, but I was very happy that I decided to get gel polish on my nails too. I took a very long time in picking my colour (because I can never decide easily) and Jenny, who did my nails, was very patient—and even offered me a patch test of some sort, where she tried the colour on my big toe first and asked me if it is what I expected. I waited for a week to write this review because I know that for gel polish, you need to have prepped the nail well, and this shows in the first few days if it hasn’t been done. I didn’t get any lifting or peeling, and I am guilty of using my nails as a tool sometimes, so they did go through some heavy duty stuff. There’s some slight tip wear but that’s to be expected from what I put my nails through and also that the gel polish won’t really cure on a very thin surface area anyway. My only negative point would be that for a couple of my nails, I felt the whole nail wasn’t painted, and there’s some space which was bare of any colour, but I’m not too upset about that. Also, in my right thumb, a tiny bit of the polish was attached to my cuticle and cured there, so naturally a week later with daily moisturizing it became more apparent. I hope that’s not a week spot that will make it peel, but again that isn’t something I would blame Jenny for as I only got gel polish on my hands, not a manicure. Please reply with any questions you have and I’ll do my best to answer! PS: the owner is so sweet and was happy to give me an appointment for my hands the very same day even though I hadn’t booked. Also when I didn’t have cash, she very kindly let me get out of the shop without paying to look for an ATM and gave me directions :)"
