"Staff, service, breakfast, dinner, hospitality and rooms were amazing!! Big shoutout to the waiter and the main desk staff for having a big approach, very talkative and helpful! Loved it! It's a little bit far from the centre, but it only takes 10-15 minutes with a Bolt/Uber. enjoyed the stay!"
"Festive afternoon tea - first impression of the building and restaurant...Tacky and miserable. Google states this is a 4* hotel. We were told there was no Mulled wine and offered any other drink. How do you not have the mulled wine if you know people have booked the festive afternoon tea. We did not get offered tea/coffee, we had to ask for it and it didn't arrive until we were practically finished. We ordered this via Wowcher and the food described was not what we got. We were missing two of the sandwich selection and there was no mince pie, the desserts were completely different from what was stated. The quality wasn't great either, the meat was cheap and looked the safe for both sandwiches, they were cakes in sauce as well which looked unappetising. Also 1 scone each? That's unheard of with an afternoon tea. Our server was polite and friendly hence why the 2* star rating but I was absolutely astounded by how bad the food was. I just couldn't wait to leave and I've never felt like that in all the afternoon teas we have been to."
"Arrived after attending a funeral for the "wake". 1. Car Park - mostly unsurfaced coating shoes with mud & decomposing leaves 2. Steep steps; handrail only on one side; further flights of stairs (no lift) to function room 3. Reception staff sarcastic mutterings in regard to my disabilities and utterly insistent that it was vitally important to log my car registration; also unhelpful to catering contractor's staff who were carrying quite heavy loads. Indeed openly laughed at her. 4. Room was adequate although very little space between furniture. 5. Bar was only a table with poor section of spirits and mixers; no beers or lagers and not open for business when we arrived even though there were already around a dozen thirsty customers who had arrived before our group of four. 6. Toilets weren't available on the same floor as function room - extremely inconvenient to someone with my mobility issues. All told thoroughly disappointing and blighting what had been an enjoyable celebration of the life of a dear family member. On reading the manager's replies to previous poor reviews, and the timespan of such, I expect a similar lip service reply and no actual service improvements. I am surprised that there is no lift as it is easy to install such in only matter of days especially as the stairwell is so spacious. There is obviously no regard for the facility's disabled clientele."
"Room was dirty and dated. Car park full of litter and overall dirty premises. We were in a cottage room which was full of flies and looked like it hadn’t been looked after in years! Breakfast was awful, don’t pay the £10 per person! Nothing was replenished ever, no clean glasses or plates, even when we asked. Had to drink out of mugs and eat out of bowls! Poor selection and no clean tables at all!! Do not recommend, appreciate it wasn’t too expensive but would have been much better literally anywhere else. Don’t be fooled by the pictures, it’s nothing like that. No one on reception, service was poor. Don’t go here! I want my money back!!"
"Stayed over for a birthday treat with my friend. Lovely, helpful staff, nice big double room. Tea and coffee facilities. Adequate storage for a few days stay. There was a hairdryer and ironing kit stored in the wardrobe. Everything seemed clean and in order."
