Established in 2006, this center was developed in partnership between Ballarat Grammar and the wider Ballarat community. It is conveniently situated opposite the Howitt Street shopping precinct and adjacent to Ballarat Grammar. The construction of the Wendouree Centre for the Performing Arts took place from 2004 to 2006 on the site of the former Wendouree councils' Municipal Hall, which was originally built in 1959. The sale of the hall to Ballarat Grammar was a result of Victoria's council amalgamations in the 1990s. On 10 August 2006, the Centre was officially opened by the Governor of Victoria, Professor David de Kretser.
