"Posting on behalf of my distraught friend. Almost 12months ago my friends dad took his watch with a lifetime guarantee into Michael hill chartwell for a simple battery replacement. Since then he fell ill and my friend (daughter) has phoned several times on her fathers behalf because they have made zero attempts at communications. Today was the 3rd phone call, she was informed it was lost and she was shocked at the lack of responsibility or reimbursement and also lack of sympathy as she told the staff member her father had died less then two weeks ago. Not only is this watch incredibly important to my friend but they way the staff have handled this is beyond unacceptable, especially at a time of grieving. Words directly out of sales ladies mouth while my friend was in tears "what do you want me to do about it, it was lost at our service center in Auckland" My friend has since emailed head office. I suggest someone in power gets in touch with my friend because this situation is beyond cruel from such and iconic trusted NZ brand...DISAPPOINTED!!!!!! Update: after she sent an email expressing her disappointment she got a reply today. He went on to explain that watch batteries can take up to 4 weeks..which means he didn't even read her first email which stated it's been close to 12 months. Omg!"

"I came in today with my daughter, and had an amazing customer service experience. I’d seen other earrings I liked elsewhere but the service here was fantastic - friendly but not pushy, and the two staff members had a really good energy about them, making me feel very comfortable. Even though I was being served by one, the other also joined in conversation and talked to my daughter also, which was really impressive as a lot of the time staff don’t care if it’s not “their” sale. As soon as we left my daughter said how nice the ladies were. Thanks for the amazing service today - you’re both an asset to Michael Hill!"

"absolutely disgusted with the way my daughter was spoken to by one of your staff re buying her wedding ring. This has caused huge upset on what is suppose to be a special time. to the shop person - take a good look at yourself as you should at least apologize."

"Had a horrible experience today at Michael hill. I was in the shop with my partner looking at wedding rings. We were talking to the woman behind the counter about getting a ring my partner liked resized. My partner asked if the ring was able to be resized as it was a tungsten ring. The woman said yes it can be resized and nudged her arm at me and said you'd know all about getting rings resized right, you know too many pies and cakes. I was so shocked she had said that, I walked out of the store. She completely ruined my experience in finding my wedding band. I will never be shopping at Michael Hill chartwell again."
