Welcome to Songbird Early Childhood Centre Aongatete! Located in the beautiful rural setting of Katikati, on State Highway 2, our center offers quality care and education for toddlers and pre-schoolers aged 2-5 years.

At Songbird, we prioritize building confident learners in a happy and secure environment. With a high child to teacher ratio, our dedicated team of qualified early childhood teachers ensures that each child receives the attention and support they need to thrive.

Our spacious outdoor area, surrounded by farmland and orchards, provides a perfect setting for children to explore, play, and learn. With a large lawn, vegetable garden, playground, and huge sandpit, our inviting space offers endless opportunities for relaxation and discovery.

We believe in building strong relationships with children and families, as we understand that a secure sense of belonging and community is crucial for children's exploration, discovery, and learning. Our center focuses on developing self-management skills in preparation for primary school, and each child has a beautiful portfolio documenting their learning and development progress.

At Songbird, we lead with love and teach with heart. Our nurturing Kaiako and wonderful families create an environment woven with aroha (love), care, and respect. Kindness, trust, and meaningful relationships are at the core of everything we do, as we nurture the mana of each child and fill their buckets with love.

We embrace child-led learning through play, and our unique rural location supports children's natural curiosity and wonderment. Our rich curriculum, inspired by children's interests and supported by our professional knowledge, fosters resilience, problem-solving, and a love for learning.

Rebecca and Dan, our founders, live locally in Omokoroa and are passionate about providing a home away from home for children. Rebecca, a qualified and registered teacher, brings her experience working with babies, toddlers, and pre-schoolers to create a nurturing learning environment. Dan, our accounts administrator and maintenance expert, ensures the smooth running of our center.

Our vision for Songbird is to create an inviting learning environment that feels like an extension of children's families and homes. We aim to foster a genuine community spirit where all children and families feel valued and enjoy positive relationships with our teachers.
