Welcome to BestStart Tauranga Central, located at 76 Thirteenth Avenue in Tauranga, New Zealand. As an establishment and point of interest, our goal is to nurture and empower our tamariki (children) to grow and develop a passion for learning that will prepare them for their future.

At BestStart Tauranga Central, we take pride in creating an environment that sparks children's curiosity and encourages them to explore, take risks, and make their own discoveries. Our learning environment is carefully set up by passionate teachers who use a range of resources to promote open-ended and collaborative play. This approach allows children to contribute and become actively involved in their own learning.

Our dedicated teachers thrive on working alongside our learners, engaging and inspiring them through play. Play helps nurture and empower our tamariki, teaching them valuable skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, self-expression, creativity, and resilience in the face of challenges.

We provide enriching experiences that fulfill our tamariki's goals and align with their current interests. Our learning experiences are inclusive and diverse, ensuring that we support all our tamariki in a holistic way. We also utilize our local community for learning opportunities, including school visits to support our upcoming school children. Additionally, we regularly visit our local rest home, fostering community connection and interaction, and enjoy spontaneous excursions to enhance our group planning.

As a culturally responsive center, we place high importance on understanding our families' backgrounds, heritage, values, and beliefs. We value each and every child equally and strive to expand their cultural awareness by celebrating special events and embracing their own and others' cultures. Research shows that children who are exposed to different cultures at an early age develop stronger social skills and positive attitudes towards diversity.

At BestStart Tauranga Central, our children learn from each other and build positive foundations to support them later in life. Our actions today shape our world tomorrow.

We also prioritize communication with our parents. One parent shared, "You are great at keeping us up to date with what our son has been doing. We get regular pictures sent to our emails, and it makes us feel that we know what is going on. It has also been great to share with the grandparents and the rest of the family."

Another parent expressed their satisfaction with the staff and the center's events, stating, "BestStart Tauranga Central has been the one place my children have both attended. The staff are wonderful and provide lots of passion. We love all the parent evenings, especially the superhero disco night. They are always putting on events for us to have extra family time with our children."

We are always exploring ideas and ways to authentically strengthen and affirm children's sense of culture and identity. As part of this commitment, we have created a pepeha (a Māori introduction) for every child and displayed them in a way that showcases their true selves.

Additionally, we have been taking the children to our local pool, where they have been learning important swimming skills from a trained team of professional swimmers. The swim school has taught the children various skills, such as floating and blowing bubbles!

January has been an exciting month for us, with our holiday program in full swing. We are dedicated to providing engaging and enjoyable experiences for our tamariki all year round.
