About the Business
Welcome to Pahoia School, a rural primary school located in Whakamārama, New Zealand. Situated approximately 20 km north of Tauranga, our school is nestled in a beautiful countryside setting.
At Pahoia School, we are dedicated to preparing our learners for the present and the future. Our mission statement reflects our commitment to providing a high-quality education within a supportive and nurturing environment. With around 200 students, our school community is close-knit, caring, and friendly. We prioritize creating a safe space where all children are treated with dignity and respect.
Our team of passionate teachers work together to foster a positive learning environment. We believe in responding to the individual needs of each student and setting high expectations for their academic and personal growth. Our dedicated Board, staff, and wider school family are committed to delivering excellence in education.
We value our community of learners, which includes teachers, support staff, children, and whānau (family). We firmly believe that their input is invaluable in shaping our educational practices. At Pahoia School, we strive to cultivate a sense of belonging and encourage active participation from all members of our community.
The artwork displayed throughout our school tells a powerful story. It represents a community that nurtures its children, symbolized by seeds planted in the soil. It also reflects our commitment to understanding our heritage and embracing the multicultural society we live in. The painting showcases three flax kete, each representing knowledge, growth, and the spreading of seeds. These images embody our vision of connecting our children to a global community, equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and understanding to thrive in society.
Our vision for Pahoia School is to create a community of globally aware and locally grounded, confident, lifelong learners. We aspire to see our tamariki (children) achieve great things in the future. Join us on this exciting journey of education, where we foster a love for learning and empower our students to become active contributors to society.
Reviews
"This was primary school and I never EVER had any issues, it's not been long since I visited and while teachers have changed the type of education has not. This is a brilliant school and I highly recommend sending your children here."
"WARNING for concerned, caring parents. I would have loved to have given this school a higher rating. I sent my son here for his first year in good faith, thinking this school was the right choice. I regret that decision even though, he adored his teacher Mr Parker and some of his class mates. But unfortunately, my 5 year old son was bullied on the bus for having long hair. (long hair for religious reasons and the child's choice) He came home, and while I wasn't watching tried to cut his hair. Because he was teased and called a girl. (psycological damage) I told the principal. Who was very concerned. But the vice principle. Couldn't open her ears and heart after being told multiple times. By multiple people, what the issue was and failed to address the bully appropriately and notify his family. So they could have a mature talk to him. She also was condescending when speaking to me, more worried about addressing other things she wanted to pick at and acted upset in the context that she had to follow up my concern. I've been told that the boys are yelled at and treated horribly in comparison to the girls. I know children that have been physically bullied that attend here and I have watched personally as a boy hit a girl multiple times infront of a teacher and staff did nothing about it, while the girl ran away crying. This school looks good, but unfortunately the majority of the staff don't care about the mental and physical health and well being of their children. Especially those who cannot speak for themselves. I have since removed my child and urge any parent to highly reconsider sending their innocent child here and to question what is going on when parents aren't watching. To all staff, please work on your compassion and awareness. You are raising and teaching the next generations that will inherit the earth. You may be primary school teachers. But you have a big job on your shoulders and it shouldn't be taken lightly."
