Welcome to BestStart Bay Kindy, located on Welcome Bay Road in Tauranga, New Zealand. Our establishment is not just a school, but a point of interest and a place where learning and growth happen together as one center whanau (family).

At BestStart Bay Kindy, we believe in the power of working together. When children feel the support and confidence from their teachers and peers, they are able to push their boundaries and expand their horizons. Our warm and nurturing center provides the perfect environment for children to flourish, explore, and discover.

Our center is designed to bring out the very best in our children. With beautiful, natural surroundings and well-established gardens, our little ones just love to explore. We believe in giving children the freedom to choose, so we set up open activities that invite curiosity, exploration, and discovery. Our children are empowered to make choices, follow their interests, and lead their own learning, all while being supported by our skilled teaching team who extend and enhance their learning experiences. We provide numerous opportunities for children to be creative, with open-ended areas of play.

We also believe in providing a real-life experience for our children. We use materials that connect and extend their experiences from home, promoting an environment that supports their overall development. We encourage healthy eating, plastic-free lunchboxes, and the use of wet bags instead of plastic bags, instilling an understanding and appreciation for caring for the environment.

At BestStart Bay Kindy, we value the importance of working together. We respect each child as an individual, a part of their family, the center family, and the wider community. Our skilled teaching team builds great relationships with families and the wider community, developing a deep understanding of each child and creating individualized learning plans to engage and inspire. We think outside the box to create fun and exciting learning opportunities for all of our children.

Our center fosters tuakana-teina relationships, where children of all ages learn and gain skills from each other in a blended learning environment. We also participate in regular excursions and local community events, helping children understand the wider world and develop a sense of belonging and confidence within it.

We are proud to have a great relationship with our local primary school and participate in their weekly transition to school program called Kickstart. This program allows our children to build relationships with their future teachers and classmates, supporting their social and emotional well-being and developing positive approaches to learning. Combined with our be School Ready initiative, which focuses on numeracy, literacy, social competency, problem-solving, building confidence, independence, and tuakana-teina relationships, children leave us full of confidence to take on the next stage of their learning journey.

Our playground is like a backyard, but way more fun! It is filled with specialized equipment and places to explore, allowing children to gain confidence and control over their bodies through the challenges they undertake. Children also develop knowledge about how to keep physically fit, healthy, and active while having fun.

Throughout the year, we also celebrate different cultural events, such as Diwali, allowing tamariki to make connections to different cultures that make up our center whanau and community. And in December, we are hyped with all the fun of planning for Christmas at BestStart Bay Kindy.
