Tauranga Musical Theatre holds a special place in the heart of the Tauranga Moana community. Our society's rich history dates back to a captivating performance in the Tauranga Town Hall on September 7, 1932. Over the years, we have become renowned for our high calibre productions, staging four shows annually.

Our 'major production' takes place at the esteemed Baycourt Theatre, while our own Westside Theatre on 17th Avenue hosts three smaller productions, including a Youth-only show. These smaller productions play a vital role in nurturing and growing our members, as well as cultivating the next generation of theatre enthusiasts and arts professionals. They provide a smaller and more supportive environment for new performers, serving as an excellent training ground.

We are an amateur society that welcomes members from the wider Western Bay of Plenty area. Tauranga Musical Theatre offers opportunities for performers in acting, singing, and dancing, as well as individuals interested in backstage craft, such as costumes, lighting, sound, directing, production management, set construction, musical direction, choreography, and even management roles like marketing and committee involvement.

Our society prides itself on being inclusive, comprising a diverse range of members who contribute their collective skills. There are always opportunities for individuals with various talents to get involved and, in return, experience a sense of camaraderie within our fun-loving and entertaining group of people.
