About the Business
Welcome to Te Manu Toroa, a leading health institution located at 11 Tebbs Lane, Tauranga, New Zealand. Established in 1997, our institution was created to provide a kaupapa Māori model of healthcare that integrates and links services to Māori in the Western Bay of Plenty.
At Te Manu Toroa, we are dedicated to offering a wide range of medical and dental services to the community. Our goal is to provide comprehensive healthcare services that cater to individuals of all ages. We offer a range of Community, Family, and Mental Health services specifically tailored for individuals aged 25 years and over.
One of our newest additions is Te Whare Oranga, where we provide therapies that have been proven to support your body's health and aid in injury and illness recovery. We understand the importance of a whānau-centered approach to healthcare, which is why we operate two General Practices in Tauranga and Pāpāmoa. Our services also extend to Community Nursing, Mental Health & Addictions, Family Start, Child & Youth Services, Dental Services, and Rongoā Māori. Additionally, we have mobile specialist staff available for patients who may be unable to travel.
With two clinic locations, our General Practice Clinics provide high-quality, affordable, and accessible healthcare. Our Community Services utilize advanced nursing skills to provide complete client management for people living with chronic illnesses. We also emphasize the importance of mental health, as it can have a profound impact on individuals and families. We encourage everyone to look out for warning signs and talk to us for support.
Convenience is key, which is why our practice teams are dedicated to providing you and your whānau with high-quality, comprehensive healthcare services to treat illness, disease, or injury. Our Pāpāmoa practice team is conveniently located and committed to providing healthcare services that fit your needs.
For after-hours medical care, we offer a 24/7 Nurse Triage Service. When our GP clinic is closed, a registered nurse will answer your call and provide you with the free professional health advice you need. This service operates after hours, weekends, and public holidays.
At Te Manu Toroa, we understand that healthcare can be a family affair. That's why we provide fun activities and games to keep tamariki entertained while you explore all of our services. We believe in the importance of community engagement and recently had the privilege of hosting the CEO of the New Zealand Nurses Organisation (NZNO), Paul Goulter, as part of a delegation visiting Tauranga.
Don't miss the chance to protect yourself and your whānau. Join us on Saturday the 29th of April 2023 from 9am – 3pm for an event open to everyone. Details will be provided closer to the date.

"These people are Awesome, Super friendly and helpful. Rock on. Thanks heaps for looking after me over the years. All the best. DC Beach"
"I have been with this practice for over two years now. I am also with mental health and addictions, which is under Te Manu toroa. I have Lisa as my support person. She has been an awesome support person, where I can talk to her, and be honest with no judgement. With the amount of instability in my life and me only wanting to be better and grow she's really helped me a lot in such a short time. And if I know of anyone in a similar position, I will definitely recommend her! S"
"I have now been attending this practice for more than a year. I moved after regular replacement of GPs at previous practice and was very happy with my initial doctor at TMT. Unfortunately she moved on and I am now meeting with Rosemary Minto, very competent nurse practitioner. However owing to frequently long waiting times for appointments at this clinic, I have also met with two different doctors - all helpful and competent as is Rosemary. But it would be good to be able to get to your own doctor within a couple of days, ideally. The reception staff and nurses are great too. The whole practice feels positive, friendly and welcoming. Well done, Te Manu Toroa whanau."
"Kia ora. It's been a hectic year with covid stress and a myriad of other ailments I have endured during the year .i have been in and out of the drs more times than i can count . And each time i have been treated amazing. The longest i have waited for my appointment would be under 10 minutes! Seem so organized. Kia ora to the ladies behind the desk . Next time I'm in I'll bring a punnet of kina. Your a credit to our people!!"
"I have always been a patient of a hau Ora from waiheke island to Tauranga 6 years ago. The docs here have always gone above and beyond, (I’m not a straightforward case) to one doc reading through 10 years of medical notes to learn about my case and put a 7 page report together. Which has really helped. When I have to see a different doc for emergency they too know what I need. The warm welcome from reception, the docs and can’t forget the nurses. The nurses really know how to calm and reassure. I love this hau Ora and wouldn’t go anywhere else."
