About the Business
Welcome to Halcyon Acupuncture, an establishment located in the serene and picturesque paradise of Omokoroa, New Zealand. My name is Ayen Chen, and I am a highly qualified acupuncturist with a passion for sharing the benefits of acupuncture with our community.
Acupuncture is an ancient practice that dates back to the late stone age, where people used specially shaped stones or bones to alleviate bodily ailments. Over 3,000 years, this approach has evolved into the sophisticated acupuncture techniques we use today. Traditional acupuncture views the human body as a whole, recognizing that physical and mental issues stem from imbalances within. By stimulating specific acupoints, acupuncture restores balance and provides relief for a variety of conditions.
At Halcyon Acupuncture, we combine knowledge and experience from both Western medicine and traditional oriental medicine to diagnose and manage musculoskeletal or neurological conditions, as well as reinforce overall constitutional health. Our aim is to provide each visitor with a rewarding experience and the benefits of ancient acupuncture techniques.
During an acupuncture session, very thin needles are gently inserted into specific points on the body to stimulate physical responses and counteract diagnosed issues. This approach is suitable for most musculoskeletal or neurological conditions, as well as general health maintenance. We prioritize your safety and well-being by using only sterile, single-use needles and applying gentle manipulations to minimize any discomfort.
Electroacupuncture is another technique we offer, which involves weak electric currents conducted through pairs of acupuncture needles or adhesive pads. The constant stimulation provided by the electrical pulses enhances the effects of traditional acupuncture. This approach is also suitable for musculoskeletal or neurological conditions, though it is not recommended for those with metallic implants.
For localized aches, soreness, tensions, and stiffness, we also provide cupping therapy. This involves applying suction cups to the affected area, creating a vacuum that increases local blood circulation. This loosens tightened muscles, fascia, or tissues and produces effects similar to a deep tissue massage. The cups can be stationary or moved around to enhance the effects.
At Halcyon Acupuncture, we incorporate holistic principles in our diagnosis and treatment approaches. We believe that the treatment of any condition extends beyond the clinic, which is why each visitor receives easy-to-follow advice tailored to their individual constitution, lifestyle, and even seasonal climates. Our goal is to share holistic health maintenance concepts with the community, enhancing the quality of our lives together.
Please note that I am away until Wednesday, the 30th of August, 2023. However, I look forward to welcoming you to Halcyon Acupuncture upon my return.

"Excellent treatment for a sprained muscle was 95% better the next day will be returning to Ayen if need be"
"Halcyon acupuncture is great, Ayen have been helping me so much. Beautiful person with a lot of knowledge. Highly recommended!"
"I went to see Ayen for a lower back pain that had worsened over some months to the point where I felt it all the time. It was incredible - I pointed where it hurt, she put a couple of needles and the pain just faded away. She said I might need several treatments and I will see her again because if a single appointment made such a difference I trust she can resolve the issue completely. Thank you so much Ayen!"
"Morning All I went to Ayen at Halcyon Accupuncture Because I was having severe pain from Trigeminal Neuralga, medication did not seem to be solving the problem, after a couple of visits my pain level was down to a more manageable level and I definitely felt better within myself. I have complete confidence in recommending Ayens services to anybody who needs to find pain relief, she does not say she can solve all your pain but in my case my pain level is down to a level I feel I can manage and my life is definitely better"
