Welcome to Children First Early Childhood Centre, located in the beautiful area of Upper Hutt, New Zealand. Situated on the corner of Fergusson Drive and Sutherland Ave, our centre is conveniently positioned between Heretaunga and Trentham.

At Children First, we are proud to be a teacher-led centre with a strong emphasis on learning through play. Our dedicated kaiako (teachers) are passionate about providing a nurturing and stimulating environment for our tamariki (children).

Our Infants and Toddlers space is designed to cater for tamariki up to 2.5 years of age. This area features a spacious self-contained play room, an outdoor space with a sandpit and sunshades, a sleep-room, and a kitchenette. Our devoted kaiako have created a fantastic and challenging environment, offering many opportunities for tamariki to explore, question, experiment, and learn.

For our preschool-aged tamariki, aged 2-5 years, we have created a stimulating environment where they can explore at their own pace and in their own time. This approach empowers them to set goals and answer questions about the world around them, building on their existing knowledge and interests.

What sets Children First apart is our exceptional team of kaiako. Each staff member undergoes regular police checks and completes a child protection training course to ensure the safety and well-being of our tamariki. We adhere to the Ministry of Education guidelines regarding adult-to-child ratios, providing a secure and nurturing environment for all.
