"Pink Cliffs Geographical Reserve in Heathcote an hour and a bit outside Melbourne is a landscape unlike anything I have seen. Perhaps it's somewhat like something out of the Northern Territory, but it's a unique place of erosion, leaching and geological exposure. We traversed this place for a good hour with our dog. We saw sand dunes unlike any sand dunes we have ever seen, clay and ochre deposits, mounds of rocks of all kinds, and boulders. The colours were startling. On the lower viewing platform, we found an indispensable item for any Australian journey into the rural landscape: an IGA supermarket trolley. It turns out the site is an abandoned part of the goldmining landscape. Many kms of sluice boxes ensured that water flowed through the area. Mining flushed chemicals, stones and rocks, ensured erosion and exposed the land. It's nonetheless a remarkable place."
"Pretty cool place. Short and easy walk and good to bring the kids to have a look. No toilets and the shorter look out point was sort of pram friendly. Besides pushing through the muddy ground. Good work out though. I wouldn’t call the view as breathtaking but it’s different from what we’ve seen. Pretty cool and worth checking it out. Wished they had better description and history of the place."
"Lovely little area... I just wish people would read the sign and not jump the fence and run all over the mounds which lead to erosion. Follow the tracks and there are great views."
"Special view of rocks I had never seen before but shock me very much! The color is so cute and people can take beautiful photos here. High view and low view are available to see different angle of pink cliffs. Almost spent 30mins here."
