"A really nice walk. From Kowhai Street, the walk was about an hour and a quarter or so return. The track was a little muddy in places but overall in good condition. It starts off quite steep but overall not too hilly. The creek itself was picturesque and worth the walk."
"What a great hike. A few steps but very doable... done with 6, 7, and 8 yr old boys."
"There are a few different ways to go but we started on Kowhai St. Park your car here then walk up the steep street and you'll find the stairs at the beginning of the track. Follow these for about 15mins and you'll reach a fork in the road. Go left then follow this all the way down through the bush then go back up to spectacular views of Wellington and Somes Island. Head down left from there to Muritai Park and once you reach the road follow back along yo Kowahi St. Maps it from there if you need to. This walk has an elevation gain of 310 metres and took us about 1h10m at a fast pace. More like 1h30m at a more leisurely pace."
"With breathtaking harbour views, tranquil native bush, undulating tracks, picnic spots & great birdlife, Butterfly Creek has it all. We like to start at the far end of Eastbourne near the bus station to take the longer & more scenic route up to the top."
"Another fabulous group of easy walking tracks in the hills behind Eastbourne. The tracks go from easy to intermediate and are well maintained and sign posted. The sea views are perfect. Most of the tracks have a gentle climb to the first ridgeline. The track sign posting are very realistic, some level of walking fitness is required."
