About the Business
Welcome to Rona Bay Beach, a stunning establishment located at Marine Parade, Lower Hutt, New Zealand. As a popular point of interest and park, Rona Bay Beach offers a picturesque setting for visitors to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature.
One of the standout features of Rona Bay Beach is its consistently high water quality. In fact, this beach has passed water quality tests at least 95% of the time, ensuring a safe and enjoyable swimming experience for all. The latest water sample, taken on September 1st, 2023, confirms this status. The Swim Guide - New Zealand regularly updates the beach's status as soon as test results become available, and the results were posted on Swim Guide on September 1st at 1:15 AM.
To maintain this high standard, the Greater Wellington Regional Council diligently monitors water quality at popular swimming beaches throughout the Wellington region. The water quality data on Swim Guide is sourced from the LAWA Can I Swim Here? website, where predictive modeling is used to determine the level of Enterococci, a faecal indicator bacteria that indicates the presence of harmful pathogens in the water. Rona Bay Beach consistently meets the guidelines, with Enterococci levels within the range of 0 - 280 Enterococci / 100 mL.
Beach sites with Enterococci levels within the guidelines are represented by a GREEN swim icon, providing reassurance to visitors. However, if the latest predicted result exceeds the standards or there is a temporary water quality issue outside the routine testing program, such as a sewage overflow, the beach site is represented by a RED swim icon. It is important to note that LAWA recommends avoiding swimming for 2 - 3 days after significant rain, even at sites with good water quality. A good rule of thumb is to check that you can see your toes in knee-deep water.
For up-to-date information on current warnings and alerts, weather conditions, tides, real-time water temperatures, available facilities, and the monitoring history at Rona Bay Beach, please visit www.lawa.org.nz/swim. This website also provides helpful factsheets on recreational water quality monitoring in New Zealand.
At Rona Bay Beach, your safety is our top priority. We encourage you to report any pollution concerns you may notice so that our Affiliates can take immediate action to maintain the safety of all beach-goers. Additionally, it is important to always obey signs at the beach and follow advisories from official government agencies. Stay alert and be aware of other swimming hazards, such as dangerous currents and tides.
Come and experience the beauty and tranquility of Rona Bay Beach. With its pristine water quality and breathtaking surroundings, it is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a day by the sea.

Reviews
"Have come hear several summers. Lovely sheltered grassed area, however 1 of the 2 toilets (just past swimming pool) is closed. When really busy long long queues. Seems to be the same ever summer (busy period). Shame city council don't seem to care as they drop the ball on this every summer."
"Awesome spot to catch a couple of phat kahawai, the odd cod, a gurnard or two, etc. Well set up, with heaps of rod holders, a bait station, and good lighting for a night fish."
"Beautiful calm beach for swimming in summer. Dog friendly beach. Parking and toilet available. I think you can get here in a bus too. Watch sunset and sunrise and ferries go by. Some people were also casting fishing from roadside and wharf. There is a 4 Square supermarket and restaurants nearby too. Worth visiting."
"Best easy beach walk in the region with safe walking, children's play areas, cafes and pebble beach. Well sign posted for walkways and rules for dogs. Overall a safe place to be"
"Nice view, but small, far. Nice for walks, running and walk the dog."
