Welcome to the Puketiro Centre, a renowned establishment located at 30 Kenepuru Drive in Porirua, New Zealand. As a health institution, we are dedicated to providing exceptional care and support to individuals with disabilities, as defined by the NZ Ministry of Health.

At the Puketiro Centre, we understand that each individual is unique, and we strive to assess and address their specific needs. Through standardized assessments, observations, and discussions with the family, we identify their strengths and areas of difficulty. With your permission, we may also consult with teachers and other involved individuals to gain a comprehensive understanding of your child's development.

Once the assessment is complete, we work closely with the child and their family to design a tailored intervention or therapy plan that targets their identified needs. Our goal is to empower individuals with disabilities to achieve their full potential and enhance their independent functioning.

In addition to our assessment and therapy services, we also assist families in accessing relevant information, support, and other services. We have established strong connections with community services and education providers, ensuring a holistic approach to our clients' well-being.

Please note that before we can proceed with any assessment or therapy, we require your signed permission. As a teaching hospital, we may also request your consent for students and other health professionals to observe or participate in the assessment or therapy process. This allows us to provide valuable learning experiences to the next generation of healthcare professionals.

To access our services, referrals to the Puketiro Centre's Child Development Service must be made by a doctor, other health professional, or a needs assessor from Capital Support. We primarily serve the greater Wellington CCDHB area, including the Kapiti Coast to Waikanae. However, we also offer a tertiary service for complex reviews for children outside of this area, requiring a referral from a paediatrician.
